Administrators JeroenPeters Posted June 30, 2014 Administrators Posted June 30, 2014 Hi all, I couldn't help it. Even with all the builds I have going on... Started work on the Do335. I will build this kit out of the box with almost no additions. Since this goes entirely against my nature, I will build this plane in flight. Gears up. Hatches secured. I took a figure from an old Hasegawa FW190D kit and will modify it to fit. Well... here goes! The scheme I'm going for is the M13 (or M20). An early designated B3 version. Heavily armed and armored. Still doing research on the armament... Anyway... this is what I'm going for!! 5
Administrators James H Posted June 30, 2014 Administrators Posted June 30, 2014 That's a pretty simple scheme! Glad you started this one. Trail-blaze this one for me Let us know what you find with fit etc. 1
Matt_ Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Interested to see what you do with this kit Jeroen. I think the arm rests on the ejector seat were folded up in normal use and only brought down when ejection was to be executed (the arms get in the way of rear of consoles etc). Not a biggie of course... Matt
RalphSarc Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I wonder if the pilot could have a head, lol!! Should be beautiful! 1
Wingco57 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Fantastic scheme. Looking forward how it evolves.Cees
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted July 1, 2014 Author Administrators Posted July 1, 2014 Thnx guys, Made the pilot fit the pit. Cut the right underarm and repositioned. Next is sharpening his detail with a sharp blade and even out the seams. I won't spend too much time in the pit since the canopy will be closed. All that needs adding is the dials and some straps to secure this puppet to his chair. I lifted his right arm. Not to work the throttle but to reach for the instrument panel. 4
Administrators James H Posted July 1, 2014 Administrators Posted July 1, 2014 Made to fit! Now saw off those cannon fairings
Wingco57 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Sawing off the cannon fairings, i like that. Need some milliput Jeroen? Cees
Grant Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Really cool scheme Jeroen and I've heard of young pilots losing their head but, man .. did you have to take it so literally ???
One-Oh-Four Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Thnx guys, Made the pilot fit the pit. Cut the right underarm and repositioned. That looks good, Jeroen!
Wingco57 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Regarding the Dornier 335, pilot's lost both arms. This is not a joke. The levers to release the canopy are on the canopy themselves. The release was so rapid the pilot's could not let the levers go in time. Terrible tale.Cees 1
BevanBrooks Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Following this one with interest Jeroen. Cheers Bevan
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted July 4, 2014 Author Administrators Posted July 4, 2014 Thnx guys, As I'm building this kit with all panels closed and gear up, the build goes pretty quick. Everything fits amazingly well. That helps too 2
Wingco57 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Question: why do you fit the engines instead of putting them in your sparesbox? Cees 1
radub Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Question: why do you fit the engines instead of putting them in your sparesbox? Cees It looks like you need to have the engines in place at least as a "mount" for the exhausts. Radu
benjaminsummerfield Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 It looks like you need to have the engines in place at least as a "mount" for the exhausts. Radu They also have the metal weight inside I believe
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted July 5, 2014 Author Administrators Posted July 5, 2014 Thats right Radu, The engines hold the exhaust stubs and the crank shaft. I am however not installing all the detail parts on them. Dryfitting and glueing today. This thing is HUGE! 4
Wingco57 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 That's the fun part, seing the model grow. Looking good Jeroen. Cees 1
