kkarlsen
Well, enough research for now - The Build of "Old Ironsides III" will continue in this topic: This weekend, i finally got on with the B-25J build... First up, I'v been adding some more details to the Norden Bombsight in the front of the nose. It was then mounted in the nose Compartment and painted.. I was also able to add a some more detail to the back of the cockpit. Navigational Maps in the back of the Pilot's Seat + a Flare Gun. Details i picked up looking at the Cockpit of the Cavanaugh Flight Museum's B-25J Mitchell "How 'Boot That". One of the most authentic restored B-25's. And a little view, behind the Instrument Panel... The Cockpit is finally Done, Finito, Finish!

kkarlsen
Update on the build: Adding some details to the waist guns: First some scratch build 'skeletons' for making the 'case and link ejection bags' for the waist guns. White glue mixed with water + tissue paper... The painted and finished bags... Reworked the gun mountings... Detailing of the Bendix upper turret... Some Profimodeller + a little plastic card, scrap pieces and lead wire springs under saddle. Upper turret gunner sight...
Brundledonk
The attention to detail in your build is breathtaking mate ! The scratchbuilding is also spot on. Those parts you added to the bombsight must be microscopic have you got laser vision beer goggles or do you use an Optivisor ? Brilliant stuff buddy Pete

kkarlsen
Progress on the build: Bomb bay is slowly getting there... The usual treatment: Profimodeller Photo Etch + some scratch build additions... (Plastic card & lead wirering) Additions to the outside of the bomb bay, Reservoir for the hydraulic fluid , emergency exit opened + some added wirering etc... Interior of the Bomb Bay, painted in all natural aluminium + Bomb rack in bronze green.. Dark wash to all of the bomb bay... Some of the details were 'picked' out with black, green and brass... kkarlsen
Scratch building the heating system: I just had to try if it is possible to replicate the insulated heating channels. Magic Sculp and some mesh... The Magic Sculp is rolled out into a thin "blanket" and the mesh is used to make som texture to it. The channel inside is made from strip styrene... Left to dry.... The scratchbuild heating unit and other parts of the heating system...

kkarlsen
I think the bombardier station is finished, at least for now. I've added the heating channel and the air duct for the defroster to the front glass + the control. Also added a flak helmet for the crew. The 'grill' in front of the air outlet, really pushed me to the limit of what it is possible to cut from sheet styrene. I'm pleased with the way the air duct turned out...
