rkranias
Taking a break from some "therapeutic" resin builds and conversions I decided to go smaller scale with this Mossie. Will build as PR variant. Current WIP's SH Tempest Mk.V, TAM A6M2b and TRU P40B tucked away while I tackle this project.
rkranias
Engine nacelles tricked up with some Eduard PE and strategically placed styrene to hide ejector marks. Alclad alumnimum and some wash detail added. PE fenders truly make a difference from the chunky kit fenders.
rkranias
After making a form out of MilliPut from an extra canopy I used .30 rod to construct inside canopy frame. After spot glue I took a hair dryer to form the rod. Trimmed and painted. Sorry for crummy out of focus image.
rkranias
I lost a bunch of images from the interior. Dammit! This is best I have.
rkranias
Fuselage buttoned up. Canopy happiness. Nothing says happiness & glee more that the joy of cutting out a vacuform canopy. After lessons from a near disaterious cut on the cockpit canopy I had much better results with the vacuform nose glazing. Interior canopy frame added to Vacuform canopy then secured and masked. I added some wiring/plumbing inside the cockpit and again I lost the images. Trust me they're there. I had a ton of fit issues and I have plenty of angst hoping the final results will be ok. Inside framing scratchbuilt, suspect fit of main canopy...what could possibly go wrong? Masking complete. Initial coat of interior green. Tamiya 1:32 Mossie called for XF-71 for interior. I used the same color for the 1:48 build. Perhaps not the best color selection, should have used MRP RAF interior green. I'll have to live with this.
crazypoet
Impressive work on that canopy framing! I also agree about the PE vs kit parts - it's a huge difference!

Thanks CP. Its been a fun ride so far. Want to wrap this up asap so I may start my WNW DH.9 and resume efforts on the A6M2b, P40B and Tempest V.
rkranias
Black from the attack. Black Base with some Gunze 1500 Black Primer applied. Breaking out my MRP PRU Blue I begin with marbling. Not many panel lines due to this a/c being mostly wood. Let the random abstract begin! Starboard wing complete. Port wing done. Stabilizer and... Bomb bay door with camera lens opening. Fuselage gets some love with a little blending. Oh, that canopy continues to give me the willys.
rkranias
Bomb Bay with a little panel line wash added. Details to be added. Cameras, racks and wiring added. Tailplane blended. Blending complete decals begin to bring monotone scheme to life. Decals complete. On the the Panel Line Washes. PLW Green Brown used on engine cowlings while PLW Dark Sea Blue used for balance of a/c. Panel Line Wash done a filter of thinned black & brown is on deck.
rkranias
Brake lines. Using wire from an old electronic device I fashoned the brake lines using Tamiya's 1/32 instruction sheet as a reference. A little slice of Waspi Stretch Tubing for attach points. Identification lights are MV Products lenses. I carefully drilled out the engraved lights out of the fuselage with a #44 drill bit. Using epoxy I carefully paced the lenses in the drilled holes. A little squirrly to position. The results are worth the angst. So close to wrapping this project up. I want this off my bench.
rkranias
The homestretch in sight. Almost ready to call this a wrap. A .35 drill and some EZ Line for the wip antenna secured with some Future. After the Future cured the EZ Line is trimmed. Vacu-Form nose glaze and intake screens installed. Bomb bay and landing gear doors installed. About those (Eduard) fenders... ...a figity pain. Like the look though. Exhaust stacks and stains applied. Pitot tube to be added, photo shoot...color this Mossie done!

DocRob
Very nice result on that bluebird. Building a plane with a monochrome scheme requires always a little courage, because of the threat of a boring result. That is obviusly not the case with your beautiful Mossie, congratulations. Cheers Rob
