Post war it served with the RCAF ending up with 429 Squadron in Winnipeg, Manitoba as aircraft 12946 where I flew it numerous times during the early 70's before it was retired from military service. It seems Buffalo Airways acquired the aircraft in October 1994. As for C-GJKM's crash near Hay River, they must have been above their single engine max weight. Yeah, you know that’s the truth. A little speed, a strong leg, and not doing anything stupid should be more than enough to see you home. Providing the load’s right, of course. 3

Wumm Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Found while poking around at Caboolture Aerodrome this afternoon... C-47A "Oklahoma Gal", former 43-48234 being (slowly) brought back to flying condition by Pacific Dakota Restorations. And nose art that's presumably under the tarp, from back in 2004... 4

Now it's a recreational area in the middle of the city I even did inner city cross country skiing there) , but when I was a kid there were these Pan Am flights to where ever it sounded like freedom. Cheers Rob 2
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted June 23, 2019 Author Administrators Posted June 23, 2019 You were in the East, Rob? I’ve talked in depth to Martin and to some semi distant relatives who grew up in the USSR, and I still can’t fathom being forbidden from leaving, especially when you’re told you’re free. Pugh! 2

I’ve heard how east Berliners saw the planes leaving Berlin and bought about the “sound of freedom”. 4
