Martinnfb Posted September 16, 2022 Author Posted September 16, 2022 I had the very same experience with Molotow pen. Big fail, minimal adhesion to the surface, inconsistent flow, simply disaster . 1 1 1
BlrwestSiR Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Rob, what about trying a Gundam paint marker and applying the black outlines after the camo is done? 3

I was contemplating about that from the beginning, but wanted to try the camo the other way around. In fact, I had the idea for a French WWI tank some time ago and wanted to give it a try. When I saw the scheme of the Lancia, I had to try it. Even with the marker, the camo will be very difficult to apply, especially in tight spaces around the wheel housings and front fenders. I have to let that sink in for a bit and then I will decide how to progress. Cheers Rob 4
Bomber_County Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Interesting conundrum Rob, sorry only just catching up. Dare I suggest tape masks, tedious I know but may work…… 4
BlrwestSiR Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Looking at all the news around the ZM 109, I took out what has to be the definitive 109 kit. Parts fit, accuracy are as perfect as a hard boiled egg. 😋 1 10
Martinnfb Posted September 17, 2022 Author Posted September 17, 2022 Ha ha awesome! Don't forget to sand down the excessive detail on the rudder 1 3

Peterpools Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Carl Outstanding work on the definitive 109 kit. Wouldn't is be great to have an Egg Plane GB! 2

Cheers Rob Actually, there's a company called Retrokits that does resin cockpits for these kits. https://retrokitonline.net/product-category/aviation/retrowings-egg-planes Kasl also has some resin correction/update sets too. Just need to figure out the PE stuff 😄 2 1 1

Peter, that would be fun. There's a number of companies making these kits these days and not just planes. Ships, tanks, mecha and even Kaiju are now available. 4
Peterpools Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Carl I've seen quite a few of the eggplane style kits and always wanted to build a few, just never found time. Definitely going to build a few this fall; they look so cool. 4
ScottsGT Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Love it. I’ve got a few of the Revell Deal’s Wheels kits like the 109, spitfire and I’ve built the triplane already. I also bought the Ming Kids B-17. Group build time! 5

Scott, since you're an F-16 fan you should try to find the Two Bob's decal sheet they did for the Hasegawa egg planes. 3
belugawhaleman Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 The egg planes are probably a fun build.......and cute, but I kind of draw the line at Meng's offering of a cute Titanic..... Kind of in bad taste in my opinion as , in my opinion , major maritime disasters...... Aren't that fun. 3

There was a modeler who did a scratch built Cute version of the Kursk sub cracked open and a yolk pouring out of the hull. I thought that was a bit too far. 3

BlrwestSiR Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 And the 109 is done. The decal solution hasn't even dried yet... 5 2
ScottsGT Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Awesome! A great break from serious modeling. I also built the Ming Santa Tank. My grand daughter saw it, thought it was a toy (she was 3 at the time) and went into hysterical crying because she couldn’t play with it. 5

HubertB Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 To quote some on the dreaded accuracy debates: "It looks like a 109, then it's accurate enough" Hubert 2 3
Bomber_County Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 I’m of the opinion now, if I read and worry about accuracy debates, I would never build anything. I read that there was a Lancaster repair facility south of Lincoln. Apparently they chopped and welded anything and everything together to send an airworthy plane. ………. 5
