Shizuoka disappointment

I guess I'm not with it, but I just don't understand the fascination of those Japanese girl dolls or what ever they are called........... oh maybe for the odd perv, but I just don't get the popularity......

This so called Shizuoka hobby show, is in my eyes more a simple toy fair. Nothing more nothing less. Not a single serious 1/32 or big scale subject is displayed.

So for me this show is a no go.:censored:

Indeed Jeff. Don't get me wrong, this show must be for many people the way to go. And yes indeed there is allot to see of all kind of nice stuff. Just, not in the way i look at modelling. But that's just personal.

You said it better than I did, Danny, and yes that is how I see it , although not for me or my style ( do I have a style??) I get it and I understand it, probably not a show I'd attend, so you would probably catch me at the local pub instead.....

Same as Nuremberg show, it's primarily about toys. Plastic models are toys and scantily cladded school girls dolls are big in Japan.

It's all because we all love sluts.   Gilrs und panzer.  The naked or half naked 1/35 girl figures.  Japanese dolls with short skirts and tall boots.  It's all Bon-Aire wear.

Gotta agree Jeff, some of the creepy stuff makes me feel like I need a wash and I'm no prude by any stretch.

Then again, we are talking about a nation where you can buy used panties in a vending machine !?

That's nothing. Sometimes google search on my phone, when I am searching for "modeling" stuff yields some crazy results. ALOT of these types of Japanese dolls are full blown involved in pornographic poses. Those up there are timid in comparison.

The short skirts with sidearms craze doesn't sink into my brain.

Heck, I'm still trying to absorb the idea of people with bright blue, green, or pink hair.   Or blue, green, AND pink, depending on the individual involved.

I see that plenty at our local IPMS shows, and the US Nats has it's fair share of oddball models.

Oh, and how on EARTH did that guy stick that 109 like that? It looks like he would have walked away with little more than a lump on his head if he wasn't wearing his helmet, but I couldn't park it like that if you paid me to do it.

I had to look that word up......yuk.

Now I looked it up!  I'll second your yuk.  Here in Australia candies, chocolates, whatever fall under the general category of "lollies".  Now I fear a name association has been planted in my brain.

I always felt sorry those with pink or blue hair, seems they are showing that color as a cry for attention.
