CrankyCrafstman
Hey Jeff I just got these in the mail From H&B Hobbies. There my 1/24 Mossie exhausts from Rexx exhausts. I'll do a write up in a while, I'm not at my work bench right now, but from what I've seen they are really nice, and come with small insert connectors to attach them to the engines. CrankyCrafstman
Hey all Well here they are, and like I said they are really nice! They are delicate, but not so much that you have to be afraid to handle them. Just be careful and patient and you will end up with what looks like some fantastic exhausts for your big Mossie. So lets take a look. this is what comes in the package. 20 individual metal exhaust pipes and 24 connector stubs to attach the exhausts to the engine. one complete engine. the other complete engine. this is the port engine outside rear double exhaust pipe. View from the top. view from bottom. this view shows the end of the exhaust pipe. this one of the port engine outside single exhaust pipes. view from the top. this is the stub connectors removed from the tree. this view shows the Rexx exhausts on the left and the stock kit parts on the right. Top view. this view shows the Rexx exhausts on the left and the stock kit parts on the right. Bottom view. this is one of the stub connector trees. view of the kit parts on the engine. View from the rear. view of the kit parts on the engine. View from the front. this view shows the Rexx exhausts on the engine. View from the front. this view shows the Rexx exhausts on the engine. View from the rear. As you can see they look great. Just a little rust and whitish aluminum stains on the ends and they will look just like the real thing. Actually they look great right out of the box. So get ahold of Bob at H&B Hobbies and order yourself a set. $39.95 US, part number RX24001 D. H. Mosquito MK VI. Wingco57
Exhausts do not rust but discolour because of the heat.

Yup, Cees is right, if they were going rusty then they were time ex. I reckon a very light dusting of light grey on ends of the rear 4 (simulate the heavy use and lead in the paint) and a wash over the top and they will look the bizzo! Old story though....study pics. And C'mon any modelling updates? I am having withdrawls….
Captain Boogaloo
Hello Ron, Thanks again for the heads up on these exhausts; just pulled the trigger on a set! So glad Rexx did a 1\24 set. Any chance you could persuade them to do some more (Spitfire, bf 109, fw 190, Hurricane, Mustang, Ju 87 Stuka would be ace!)? Looking forward to your next update Blue Skies! Wingco57
I have had some experience with rusted exhausts During recoveries when they have been underground for over 70 years but when cleaned up they are as good as new (but the warranty had expired). Cheers Cees
Anthony in NZ
Yes it's amazing what can be recovered and cleaned up. I had a very rare and unusual bracket I needed for my Auster T.7 rebuild. I thought I would have to get a new one made off the drawing. Then I got one and thought it was too far gone. Once soda and garnet blasted I could not believe how it looked like new again! Wasn't structural, so was etched, primered and resprayed in 2K paint...looks a million dollars now. Actually you only have to see what the Barracuda guys are doing on FB, especially with the Solent wreck....quite amazing!
GusMac
And yet British Leyland couldn't build a car which didn't fall into a rusty heap within 3 years!
