alpinestar Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Well here she is. After just over a year (!) the Mossie is finally done. A brief introduction: DeHavilland Mosquito FB.Mk.VI, HR118, W-3, of 235 Squadron. She was based at RAF Portreath, Cornwall, England, June 1944 and carried out anti-shipping patrols during the D-Day landings. Finished in Special Coastal Duties Scheme A, with a full set of AEAF (D-Day) Bands. Its been a long old haul getting to this point, but ultimately very enjoyable! Thank you to everyone for the support and kind words throughout this build, very much appreciated. Chris. 4

mikec Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Greetings Chris; ..... Everything, ...... everybody, said X 3 = Outstanding ......... May have taken a year to build, but, it is one in a lifetime. I think it is still the best Mosquito that I have seen, and I will be bold enough to say....... " It is going to be awhile before we will see another to compete with it ". Very nicely done, indeed ......... .... .... Mike
Grant Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Chris, I've said it before but this is definitely the very best Mosquito I've seen yet, staggeringly good work and superb painting techniques. Bravo! You must be very proud.
Rizzo Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Awesome! Really convincing weathering too. Kind of restrained but without being too subtle either. Looks great.
nmayhew Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 A benchmark standard build - I really mean that - which does justice to a benchmark standard aircraft Wonderful to have your work here
alpinestar Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Thanks Guys! Matt, that sounds like a good couple of years work......!
TacoSalad Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Holy cow that's good. I beg that's a huge sucker too.
theseeker Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Outstanding build all around! This may be my next build as I have two Mossie's on the shelf and WIP will help a lot. Rocky
