Israeli Mirage III C with Atar9C
Kaireckstadt replied to Kaireckstadt's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
All decals on the fuselage and the upper side of the model are applied now: And some closer pictures: 12 kill markings… Tomorrow I will apply the decals for the bottom side, the tanks and the pylons. The end is clearly in sight now Hubert 😉!- 719 replies

Priming looks good Harv! That’s really sh… that the engine became loose. I would add some plastic pieces to the inside where they are barely visible from outside and glue the engine to it. No chance to remove the outer ring on the engine?
-
Me too Harv! Looks really great! Now on to the paintshop? I‘ve seen that it is primed already isn’t it? Curious to see your progress!

Great progress Mark and lovely details! Even if they are hidden afterwards you still have the fotos! I have a book from Daniel Zamarbide about the build of the ZM He-219 with awesome subassemblies of which also most of them are hidden in the end. But the fotos are there… So please keep up the stunning work.

That’s really bad news Gary. I can’t understand why Revell made such big mistakes. Not easy to correct and lots of rework necessary. Up to now I thought that the Mirage III is one of the worst kits but it’s topped by this one. And I have 2 of them and a G-10 in my stash… Looking forward to seeing the results of your surgery. -

Thanks for your replies! So I keep to my decision and leave it as it is (and it even would be a huge rework to change it…).- 719 replies

Thank you all for your feedback! I was also thinking about the blue of the Israeli Stars. At first glance I thought it was too dark. But I found fotos in my literature that showed the blue really was that dark on many (but not all) Mirages: So I decided to use the Isredecals. Hope that Ra‘anan Weiss researched correctly. This is how they look in natural sunlight: What do you think?- 719 replies

For me it looks like the Luftwaffen-Blau Gary and not like velvet. -

The insignia decals are on. As usual I tested the reaction of the decals to my setting solution (Mr. Mark Softer) with a decal on my DC3-fuselage: Everything was ok! It was a good decision to mask the places where the insignia are placed over the yellow/ black triangles. On the left fuselage side the green demarcation line shone through the white of the decal. There was no other option than placing another decal over the first one. This was possible because there were some extra decals on the Isradecal sheet and because they are very thin. I also added the Parachute housing (lots of rework to be done because the diameter of the white part was much too big) and already build and painted the ladder for the pilot which still needs weathering: The external tanks were also weathered with AK Extreme Metal Steel over Alclad II White Aluminum and blended in: That’s all for tonight. Tomorrow I will go on with the other decals.- 719 replies

That looks stunning Ian. Didn’t know so far that these huts were called Nissen-Huts (Name of the invented?)! Nice touch with the figure in front and the smoke on the chimney! How many square-feet will your diorama have and how many Lancs will you put on it? -
You are fully right Peter! Any updates of the now ancient 32nd Scale Tamiya-jets are more than necessary… I would be the second after Peter to buy them…
-
Fully agree Peter!
-
Nice weathered second seat Mark! Will you also weather the seatbelts? Looking forward to seeing the complete cockpit!

Great video Ian! You are completely right. He says that he sat beneath the navigator operating the H2S before going into the nose to do his job. So your bench for both is absolutely correct. Very good research and knowledge! -

That’s a lot of work taking into account the quality of the kit parts! Would be great to see some fotos of your detail work. Have a nice holiday !
