  1. Got pictures?
  2. Most new tamiya releases have link & length tracks that are very nice...in fact the rubber band tracks are pretty good these days and are completely acceptable in my Opinion. I like Tamiya kits and will continue to buy them. There's never any issues with Fit, the engineering is excellent, and they have great instructions. The Meng kit I built... The Char 2 had Individual links that hardly fit the vehicle and kept coming apart....making the kit almost unbuildable! I've considered buying Dragon kits but, I think they are way overpriced. The one kit I have of theirs (Saladin) has errors in the instructions, and lousy painting and decal placement instructions. I purchased the tracks featured in my post as a whim...not that I believed them necessary to build an otherwise very nice kit. Also I prefer to buy Tamiya kits because I'd rather not buy Chinese at the moment. If I have to.... I'll buy Takom....I enjoy their kits, their prices make sense at least. I just can't feature paying $80.00 for a 1/35 scale kit...a small one...no. matter how Nice the tracks are..and find myself with crappy intructions and bad fit. There are a several Tamiya kits that have individual track links that are workable; their Char 1bis, their MK IV, their Somua, their red army Matilda, , and all are excellent kits. Again , most have link & length tracks. Thank Paul
  3. These came Today; From T-REX Studio, a set of 3-D printed tracks. Their Panzer PZ.Kpfw III/IV Tracks type 7. (TRXTR85028) in 1/35. I'll be using these on my Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV/70 Lang to replace the kit's tracks. They look pretty good. Each track link is connected to another using two resin pins. These, however, look very fragile. Some link fragments can be seen within the, as yet, unopened bag....Not sure that bodes well for assembly. The track links themselves look very detailed and crisply molded. We'll see how well they assemble when the time comes.
  4. I know I'll never be able finish the ones I have...........but certainly, when I die I I'm not going to know anyway.....or be in a position to care.
  5. Seriously now, I'm guilty of the same thing, whatever it's called. I currently have three builds that I have temporarily "abandoned" simply because I viewed them as being no longer fun.....they had become more of a chore than pleasant pastime. I think what you're concerned about is perfectly normal..... Whatever you do, it's your choice, enjoy your hobby and don't let it worry you. I know, I might not be setting the best example,..... I buy a new model every week, but for me, collecting kits is an enjoyable part of the hobby . I know I'll eventually build my "abandoned" kits. I don't see this hobby as being restrained by timelines to follow.
  6. Not sure, but perhaps I'll call it ..........Shirley?.... My brain hurts......Are those my feet?
  7. Nice! Looks great.....I'm also a big fan of the 'T-6, I built a few of them, including a South African example, using the old Monogram 1/48 kit....years back!
  8. That's a shame, the Catalina's a cool aircraft. It deserves an accurate representation in scale form...I doesn't seem that'll ever happen in large-scale injection model form..... I'll be watching youre efforts. Thanks; Paul
  9. Looks like a fun kit. That's cool. I'm looking forward to working on a camouflaged subject (after the M51 I'm working on)......might be a Steyr 1500 or a Jagdpanzer ..who knows? I think I'm done..,for now, with my Tamiya buying streak, or as I might call it, "Mr. Toad's wild run".. and will start building! Paul.
  10. A set of decals today; From STAR DECALS their 35-C 1349 French Fighting Vehicles In Africa This set has markings for the SOMUA S 35 including both Vichy, and Free French tanks. An interesting set.....For the Tamiya kit.
  11. Wow! That's a huge difference!
  12. What exactly, is the group build for, .... amphibious things? I think the Tamiya "Gama Goat" I just purchased was...allegedly.. meant to be an amphibious vehicle, but wasn't very good at that, or most other things. Could it be included in this group build?
  13. I haven't seen that kit for sale-anywhere- for a long time......I didn't know there was a problem with the tail.. Too fat? What exactly?
  14. Those Tamiya Corsairs look like great kits, and you're doing a great job with your build. Nice work! I'll be following.
  15. That must be frustrating as hell! Imagine paying a lot for a kit and having those problems with bad fit! Never with Tamiya!
  16. Yes, i remember the kit. Pretty good as I remember.... Of course, all my models were Thrown out after I retuned to college.... Why, I don't know why.....I returned... And they Were gone....crap! Yours, very nice!
  17. Yes! It's great stuff, as now I discovered.
  18. Nice work! An interesting subject and very good looking aircraft!
  19. Is that the 1/32 kit. I made that kit around 1984 while recovering from back surgery.
  20. The other day my brother unexpectedly bought me a jar of Kimchi after going to a Korean market. I've since discovered I love the stuff! I now have a one gallon jar of it in my fridge and will probably finish it in no time. Anyway, I'm wondering.... Does anyone else on this forum eat this?
  21. Great work! Very realistic rendering oft the weathered nmf...impressive as well as the good information and techniques you share...thanks. I've been looking the MRP product range, although seemingly expensive they do offer some advantages..... They look like they have an impressive range of colors. I have some British subjects coming up and while considering mixing the colors myself, I'm thinking now of going with the MRP paints....I've used their German red primer..and liked it. It looks like decals would go on easily over these paints without a gloss coat.....that would be a plus. Thanks for posting....Enjoying this thread. Paul.
  22. This came today.......Tamiya's M561 U.S. 6x6 Cargo Truck Gama Goat (35330). This was a 6 wheel drive articulated vehicle. What looks like a trailer is actually connected by a universal type joint and was permanent part of the vehicle. These were used from 1968 and into the '80's. Apparently, they were plagued with maintenance issues, were noisy, and slow.....So, not a big success. Anyway, an interesting vehicle.. And a nice kit and looks like interesting build.
  23. Working on a Tamiya M51 Israeli Sherman..... Had a misshap last night... Broke off the right tail light and had to search for it for a long time before finding it and managing to glue it back in place..major headache. Otherwise no other problems. The fit has been very good with this kit. I've left off the suspension units to facilitate painting later of the tires and return rollers....I'll mask the areas where these glue on when painting to get a good bond when attaching these later. Still have a ways to go.....
  24. Another kit from Tamiya came today; This time their BRITISH TANK DESTROYER M10 IIC ACHILLES (35366) This was the American M10 modified to take the British 17 pounder gun. One thing I didn't know about these was that they were powered by a General Motors 6046 which was a twin-engined powerplant made up of two Detroit Diesel 6-71 Inline 6 cylinder two-stroke engines. It was possible two run these engines independently, if needed......strange. Later versions of the M10 used the same V 8 engines as used in the later Sherman tanks. I looks like a decent kit and likely a fun build. There's some nice cast metal texture on some of the parts, including; the transmission cover, gun mantlet, and turret counterweights.
  25. I usually reinsert the needle from the back as well.
