  1. I'm in too!
  2. Mine currently sits proudly on the Shelf of Doom. It has an Aires pit and wheel bays and G-factor legs. I had to sand the back side of the bays to nearly paper thin to get them to fit. The leading edge slats on the kit are hokey; given the chance to do it over, I'd leave out the PE hinges and glue them in place (that's the part that got me stuck). The intake covers are a good call, too. Otherwise, you can see through the intakes all the way to the back end. I built intake trunking on mine; a major PITA, but I learned a lot in doing it.
  3. That Thud is an absolute beast!
  4. I guess what goes around comes around, Tony. I haven't forgotten the favor you did for me!
  5. Got the silver gray on the Pfalz...
  6. Lots to choose from... https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=Kits&q=Kliment+Voroshilov+tank+kv-1* Not an armor modeller myself, so I can't help you any more than that.
  7. Here you go, Harv! https://www.mastercasters.co.uk/mastercasters-detail-sets/mastercasters-1-32nd-scale-detail-sets/
  8. The wings on the W.29 have been fighting me all the way. HGW lozenge decals were a disaster. I liked the colors, but they come in small(ish) strips that make it very difficult to match patterns. Aviattics were better - and they came in a full sheet. Then bad crosses, then bubbling paint. I have determined that Mr. Leveling Thinner is a very effective paint remover. It took off enamels and the Tamiya white primer I used. There is a seam on the underside of each wing; it didn't fill as well as I had thought, so I'm going to give that another treatment too. New Aviattic lozenge decals are on order - maybe I can get the underside painted before they arrive next week!
  9. Carl, what's that beast in the background?
  10. Pulling a couple together... Pfalz D.IIIa And W.29
  11. John, I think you're going the best route. As promised, though, some photos...
  12. John, Revell provided shortened outer wings on that release. I would think it would be much easier to shorten the Tamiya wings. I have that Revell kit here somewhere; I can post some pictures if you's like - but it won't be until Monday.
  13. Revell did one many moons ago. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-h-297-380-royal-navy-corsair-ii--975779
  14. I found this at an antique mall for 12 dollars. I haven't built a ship since I was a kid. Copyright 1956 - the year of my birth! Still sealed in its plastic bag, too. I wonder if the decals are any good...
  15. For me (right now), it's lozenge decals. I can never get themto my satisfaction - particularly on the leading and trailing edges.
  16. Looking forward to this one, Harv. I have a trashed kit; if you need any parts, let me know!
  17. Nice score, Gaz!
  18. Very well done, Rob! You nailed that lozenge. One thing I've noticed on the W.12 and the W.29 is that there does not appear to be any mechanism for actuating the tail plane. I wonder how it was done on the real thing...
  19. I have been known to do just the opposite. On my Tamiya F-4J, I sprayed the instrument panels Tamiya semi-gloss black. Once cured, I oversprayed with Model Master gray enamel. Once the enamel was dry to the touch (but not fully cured), I used paint thinner to rub the enamel off the high spots. The paint thinner won't touch the acrylic layer underneath. Gaz, is that Testors enamel or acrylic?
  20. Phil, it's supposed to be an enamel. The paint is, from what I've read, highly regarded - and there are a couple of colors that they carry that you can't get elsewhere (French Midnight Blue being one of them). About five minutes of work with Mr. Color thinner... We'll see how this works... I don't want to have to strip the whole thing - there's some expensive Aviattic naval lozenge on the other side!
  21. I am quite perplexed, Rob. It happened in spots with lacquer-based clear gloss overcoats as well. For the next round, I'll probably go with Tamiya gloss white. I wonder if it's some kind of incompatibility with the Sovereign Colourcoats formulation...
  22. A question for the group - have you ever had this happen to you? One of the wings from my WNW W.29 - I painted using Sovereign Colourcoats CDL enamel. The enamel has cured for over a month. A light spray of Model Master gloss produced the same effect in places on the ailerons. On the wing, I could not get the cross decal to sit down - I had a big air bubble where under the decal; after several attempts to fix it, I decided to strip the decal, mask and paint the cross. A light spray of Tamiya white primer gave me the situation in the picture above. I've sprayed lacquer gloss over just about everything in the past and have never had this happen.
  23. How did I miss this? Happy belated birthday, Harv!
