  1. Thanks Phil, the canopy is made up of five parts, the two side pieces have a slight curve on them for some reason when they should be straight. Other modellers have cut the canopy to remedy this, but that is outside of my skillset atm. Also when building the cockpit the instructions tell you to glue the top frame in place. This is where the wings fix onto, so it would be better not to glue until the cockpit side pieces are in place. There is a lot of aligning to do. This was the Eduard limited edition, hence the PE. All in all an enjoyable kit. Thanks everyone for comments. Cheers Kev
  2. I have just completed this as part of a Battle of Britain 80 years group build. It depicts an aircraft from 26 Sqn based at Gatwick in 1940. I have chose to portray it in the SAR role. They patrolled the English channel looking for downed pilots, then dropped a life raft and smoke to mark their position. I found the kit very challenging especially the canopy. There is a lot of PE included in the kit as standard and that was a whole new experience, especially a snot much is in evidence on the finished build. I remind myself it is a process, my airbrushing is improving, still a bit worried about weathering so left it alone apart from the two carriers. I need to work out how and when to use varnishes as well. But overall I thoroughly enjoyed the build and to me thats what its all about. Cheers Kev
  3. My boys just bought me these for my recent birthday, for my 1/24 Mosquito. Will still be a while before I start it but can't harm collecting bits for it eh? Cheers Kev

  8. Hi Guys, I have been away and just logged in for the first time in a while today. I noticed a box asking for donations to help run the forum on the right hand side of my screen, but can find no chat about it on the site, is it legit? Am happy to make a donation. Cheers Kev
  9. Well after what seems a very long wait, this kit looks like it will be in stores soon. £125 is a lot of money though, into 1/24 Hellcat territory there. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/IT2513?result-token=6YM6j&fbclid=IwAR36gCrQ8NJnOr_sLp1x2G4_MjFpwozn9UfQY6dhnT3ANLDLOjI5g0yTU-M Cheers Kev

  15. This is my next attempt. Revell 1/32 Westland Lynx Mk.8 The soundproof blanket detail on the kit was very one dimensional so I made my own from some lightwieght air dry clay used vechicle repair mesh to get the pattern and tamyia tape. I am well pleased with the result and it should look well, painted. The interior floor of the rear cabin is plywood with none slip effect. here I have used a very fine grain sand on PVA and painted. Again as it comes together hopefully will look the part. Cheers Kev
