  1. That was helpful, Rog. Thank you. Now I just need a close-up of where the MG-FF comes out of the leading edge of the wing.
  2. Thanks for the likes and comments, everyone. Always glad to get them. Small update as I've been pretty busy and my fixes all seem to take longer than expected. The large fillets I made have been sanded down to a finer thickness. Also, after learning that the engine was tilted downwards, I glued the plastic pin so that it wouldn't spin, and used two pieces of thread to re-establish where the center should be. Then , drilled it out and inserted a 2mm piece of copper tube. Now, we're much closer to the proper thrust line. Finally, I stripped all of Hasegawa's heavy handed surface detail from the control surfaces. And my leading edge. I wish Hase would have got the interior details correct for the MG 151's. Has anyone got a good reference picture for where the MG-FF's come out of the leading edge? I know that the A5 was often flown without the MG-FF's on board. But I don't know if that meant that the ammo-drum blisters under the wings were replaced by flat panels. Thanks!
  3. Maybe Border will make a 1/35 P-38? I don't see anyone else doing it. Yamamoto aside... I'm sure it's about money. Border can rely on cheap labor to corner the market. Tamiya did, afterall just release a cracking p-38 in 1/48 scale a couple years ago.
  4. Looks great, Kevin! Great job on the decals and masks.
  5. Well... It's been over a month since my last update here. Now that I'm done with the 'let's get wet' group build, I can get back to this one. I attached the wings with no gaps on the uppers. Unfortunately the flaps and the wing around them is molded for the flaps to hang virtually straight down. I didn't like that and did as much as possible to get them in with a nice fit. I looked at a lot of 190 pics, and most don't have the flaps hanging down. One of my pet peeves in the model aircraft world is when a part is molded to be open, but doesn't fit when you want to do it closed. Once I assembled to cowling, I discovered that it doesn't fit perfectly. You can see the ridge around the leading edge fillet as well as the small gap immediately in front of the wheel well. I didn't want to do reshaping and resizing of the cowl. To me, it seemed like a recipe for disaster. So I will make templates with 3m blue tape and then cut the required shaped into some styrene sheet. Has anyone else had this situation with this kit? I suppose I could have ignored it. But I hate ledges on aircraft. Happy modelling!
  6. It Certainly looks very nice, Peter. I wish Tamiya had done more 1/32 aircraft than they have. I've always been fond of their fool-proof engineering.
  7. Silly me... I forgot to link the RFI....
  8. I couldn’t think of a viable way of making the wave look self-regenerating. As it is, it still runs perpendicular to a real wave. So, it’s easier to consider it some manifestation of godly power from the sea. Speaking of surfing… I’m finding it difficult to square all of my Germanic prototypes to “surfer dude”.
  9. Thank you guy! I think it only weighs a few pounds... so it's not too heavy. More worrisome is moving it and not catching the mast on anything.
  10. Thank you Rob. I don't see a wave about to crash into the sea. I see Posiedon's men out for a ride.
  11. It's looking good, Carl. I built somebody's F-14 when I was a teen... But can't remember much of it. Seems like a lot of jet models share the same problems.
  12. Alrighty... this is gonna be picture intensive so I'll break it up. Hope you like it.
  13. Great build and water base, Guy! Definitely did well with this trumpeter kit.
  14. I think I said it elsewhere, but great result, Rob! Love the crewmen and all of the work you put in.
