I still can't believe I'm trying this build myself. So far, my plan is to build the PE replacements and if they come off okay, then I'll remove/replace the kit plastic part. That way I have an option to backtrack if needed.

Thanks! I'm using CA for now. I thought about soldering the parts but my soldering skills are not what they used to be.

I've used both of their pre-made sets before. I'm still trying to figure how many lights I need and what size.

Great to see a PBY. With the original version of the tail, I don't think you can put enough weight in the nose to get it to sit level. I'm just remembering from when I did mine so many years ago. Carl

A bit more work done. It a bit of a challenge to get things aligned but just need to work slowly.

Phil, the cabinets goes at the back of the main cabin so are in full view. There's lots of internal cabin detail but I wanted to get a grasp of how the PE would go together before committing to the more challenging bits.

Thanks Peter. It's my first time using Griffon PE. So far, it's been nicely done. The sheets are various thicknesses of brass which adds to the detail. I don't see too much of their stuff around.

Ernie, I knew about the engine issues but not the hydraulic ones. Thanks for the additional info, especially on the efforts to return one to flying condition.

So here's the kit part on the right and the AM replacement I'm currently piecing together on the left.

Well, I took a small break from the Falcon and decided to try assembling one of the PE cabinets that go in the cabin. A basic box, with some dividers in it. Then add some diagonal dividers. 30 of them... Then add a frame to the face of the cabinet. Finally add an upper cabinet to that. Now for doors.... ...this build will definitely not be shake and bake.

That looks great. I want to light my 1/20 Valk when I get to building it. Need to figure out how to do that.

I've most likely bitten off more than I can accomplish but I told @Bomber_County Phil if he entered his PT Boat I'd join him with this kit. I remember the Airfix kit as a kid so eventually I picked up a copy of the Italeri release. Unfortunately I wasn't fast enough and most of the AM was already discontinued by that point. I do have the Griffon basic PE set for it and the Italeri crew set. Here's the instructions for the PE set. Most are double sided so I can only imagine what the advanced set must be like. The one piece hull and deck. The plan is to finish the Millennium Falcon and then start on this project.

Peter, looking forward to this. To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of the Kingfisher. It wasn't until the KH kit came out and I looked into it a bit more that I got one.

That's a bunch alright. I have the Griffon set and that's it. I see BNA has a couple of the Umodel figures in stock so I might add those.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Rob, what figure do you have a d where did you get them? I have the Italeri set and they're a bit lacking.

I just went through my Vosper MTB kit with the Griffon basic set and I think I'm going to have to find another subject. The amount of PE in the basic set is daunting. Don't even want to think what the advanced set looks like. I need to brush up on my soldering skill to take that on. Plus I want to finish the Millennium Falcon first. Carl

Peter, I think you've got it correct on your model. The lower roundels should be darker as they haven't faded. If anything, the upper roundels could also be darker if they were freshly painted. I don't have any other references for the P-40 unfortunately to double check.

Peter, I pulled out a Cutting Edge decal sheet I have for a P-40 and here's what it says about the roundels. The upper and lower roundels are the same size.
