Nice result Gaz. What paints are you using? I've had a few cusses with that problem using the Ammo paints.

Great result in the end Mark. Worth all the hassles. Why can't anyone do a decent Mirage kit, they aren't complex airframes? The Italeri/Revell IIIC/E is a dog as well as a few of us here have found out recently.

Thanks guys. Yeah, photography isn't my strong point. These were just quickly snapped on the phone and it certainly doesn't have a top bracket camera by any stretch. Will try and get something better, or certainly in focus! Martin, daylight might be an issue, this is Scotland in October! We're just about to enter perma-darkness when the clocks change. 😃

Hey all, no WIP for this as it was built in the early days of our first lockdown last year while I was waiting for my new spraybooth. Sat in the box since, so after I finished the Cheetah I thought I'd throw some paint on this and get it done. First attempt at freehand cammo and it looks passable with just a little overspray which hides quite well given the similarity of the colours. Only AM is Friul tracks and Aber metal barrels for the main gun and auto-cannon. Goes together very nicely and detail seems pretty sharp.

Similar to Rob, but I use the Mr Surfacer 1500 also thinned with Levelling thinner. As it's a bit finer you don't have to thin quite as much but the results are still bomb-proof. Used both the black and the grey and both produce great results - the black is especially good if you want to try the black-basing technique. Does stink a bit though, need a spray booth and respirator to hand.

Nice work Tom. Seems funny you need two of these for a Beau but only four for something this size! I suppose this handled in a way that was a little less sporty. 😄

I spot a Balvenie in there Carl, that's my favourite of the Speyside malts. Clean, smooth taste as opposed to the Islay malts which I also love and are heavy on the iodine/seaweed end of things.

Thanks for those Martin, some real nice stuff there. I like the stripped back car door Tiffie - having built that kit I appreciate how much work is needed to get it looking that pristine! I also think Gunter would have a better view if he was facing the other way! 😁

Clear round the edges works well and liquid frisket over edges as you paint subsequent layers helps as well.

Glad you had such a great time Maru. Hope the weather was good in the Highlands and the midges weren't biting too bad. We've had a great late summer up here, so hopefully you caught some of it.

Wow, the detail on the inside of those intakes really pops in those photos. Didn't bite on the Viggen as a bit too big to display with the space I have but now getting some serious jealousy pangs....

Glad your safe Rob but truly unfortunate for those who've lost their houses. Saw some footage on the news taken from about 6 kms away and the noise was astonishing. The local eye witness described it as sounding like a squadron of fighter jets taking off and he wasn't exaggerating! 😲

Thanks all. Rob, the original has a small insignia on the tailfin and the code '370' in small white lettering over the white strip under the fin as you can see here but I couldn't find any masks or decals that I had to replicate it, so I just decided to leave it blank

Hi all, this was a project to push my skills with resin conversions having only used aftermarket seats and cockpits before. Also looked to improve my masking skills with the paint job. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result, although that was helped in no small part by the quality of the conversion. It's from John Wiedeman at Scaleworx in South Africa and the mouldings and fit are top notch, better than the fit of the kit itself! They offer a number of conversions for the Mirage III kits and I'd heartily recommend them. My go to paints previously were Tamiya and Ammo acrylics but I couldn't get the colours from Tamiya and I wasn't convinced by the robustness of the Ammo paints for all this masking. So, based on a few recommendations from others on here, I used the AK Real Color paints and I'm definitely a convert. They thin easily, spray beautifully and give a bomb proof finish. The scheme was based on a few pictures of the airframe online. The original airframe that wore this was a Cheetah C but the external differences with the E are minimal, so a bit of artistic licence involved.
