Strange one. They're saying now it was a lightning strike then main undercarriage broke on impact and debris set the engine on fire. Funny thing is Maru everyone seems to have got out pretty unscathed or was killed. Seems to be luck of the draw depending on whether you were seated front or back. Horrible how random life can be

Seen that one mentioned many times in Neil Peart's books as he's motorcycling around Canada. At least they do some repairs, here in Scotland we've got potholes bigger than shell craters.

Ah good point! Brain not engaged. Still interested to see how you get the buckled effect. -

Nice, I'll be interested how you achieve the rusted rear edge to the wing/fuselage. -
Looks great Jeroen. Goes well with the antlers!

That's an interesting cammo pattern on that kid!

Stripes! Now that is a blast from the past. Great movie with Murray and the last, great Harold Ramis. Remember many drunken evenings with my mates watching that on VHS -

I thought everything was carcinogenic in California!? Working with radioactive materials everyday you soon realise most people have a pretty poor ability to assess 'relative risk'. Simple fact is there is only one universally fatal sexually transmitted disease.... and that is LIFE! Get on and live it and do what you want coz the next bus round the corner could have your number on it. -
Well the French 'gillet jaunes' have started trying to do something about it but judging by his statement earlier this week Macron ain't listening much! You can see their point when certain corporations find £750 million to rebuild Notre Dame which gives them a 60% tax break!

Finally a Float Plane thread...lets post some pics

I'm sorry but that first picture could lead to some highly dubious replies but I shall refrain. I'll just say that there are some cool pics here, especially that Super Cub. Good reactions Jeff! -
Can't believe you haven't knocked that armoured glass off yet. I know I would have.....

My son uses Blender a lot and does some seriously cool stuff with it. It just seems to suit the way he works especially the multi-layering. He's going to Uni later this year to do computer games design and technology so he tells his mum all the hours he spends on it are 'research'!

Those B-52s from Barksdale are super cool. -
I used to commute by car into Aberdeen, Scotland for many years before switching to the train and the standard of driving there is appalling. Too many morons paid too much by oil companies who think that their mobile penis enhancers give them priority over all others. Just before I switched to the train I was listening to a BBC radio show and the presenter was interviewing a guy who'd spent years driving articulated trucks all over the world into trouble zones to deliver aid. He'd just returned from a series of trips to Afghanistan and was talking about how they had all these additional fuel tanks and would fill right up before leaving Turkey then just roll straight through Iran without stopping for anything. Presenter finished up the interview by asking him where the worst place in the world was to drive and without hesitation he said, 'Aberdeen'. I almost drove off the road laughing!

Crap, I was hoping just to hold out for the two-seater but the Greek 239 bird is sooo cool. Ah well, it's only money!- 82 replies

Wow, amazing finish Martin. They flush-in beautifully -
Thanks for the input guys. I get what you're saying about the green Dennis. It doesn't look quite so 'vivid' in natural light and I'm hoping to use some oil dot fading to tone it down a bit. Still pondering my next move for the over-painting, SO I've bottled it and moved on to building up the MERs and Mk82s to delay the decision!

I'll pitch in with our 2 four-legged hoodlums. Classic Jack Russell's - big dog attitude in a small dog! Our neighbour calls them 'the Two Tiny Terrorists' and they do their best to live up (or down) to that! For all that, they are great company and a pair of real characters.

Try a restart in safe mode and see what you can find from there?

Okay, bit more progress. Base painting is basically done. Used various lightened shades of the Ammo medium green and tan in very thin layers. Used a mix of a couple of different sizes of the Maketar generic RAF roundels set to do the roundels and Tamiya tape to do the tail. Tried to get some modulation in the mix of French Blue I used for these but it's so subtle it's invisible! Next step is to do the over-painting / repairs on the panel lines, etc which is so prevalent on these Greek birds. Problem is I'm not sure of the best approach, so I'm looking for some advice / thoughts here. Option 1 is gloss coat the whole thing and use liquid mask to cover the panels and spray the areas needing coverage. I've seen this approach used for putty lines on whole airframes but I'm not sure if it's overkill for this which will be more localised. Option 2 is just to brush paint the required areas using highly thinned paint. Any advice guys?

Tough one Phil. Hope you can get it changed or something.

KITTY HAWK Mirage 2000 Family (1/32)
GusMac replied to Ivan Ivanovich's topic in Modelling Discussion
Thanks Clunk, I think I know a couple of those particular 'reviewers' of whom you speak! Having beaten a Trumpy Mig-15 and -21 into some semblance of shape I reckon I should be able to cover anything this comes up with. Hardest thing might be which of all the cool schemes to pick!- 82 replies

KITTY HAWK Mirage 2000 Family (1/32)
GusMac replied to Ivan Ivanovich's topic in Modelling Discussion
Looks very promising! Ernie, Ivan, I'm all up for this. I haven't built one of their kits so far just because they haven't released any aircraft I really fancied, I've built enough Trumpeter kits (including the current A-7E) to have what I think are the euphemistic 'basic modelling skills' so I hope I can cope with anything that comes with it. I build for my own fun so I'm not hung up on total accuracy, etc. I just build the aircraft that excite me and this is certainly one!- 82 replies
