Hello to you all.

not much moddeling from me latley but i think the mojo is compleet gone.

A few days on the bench looking on the shelf of doom.

TRying to do a few things but no work is getting done just looking at the model en thinking on the next steps.

But when i have to start nope put it back on the shelf.

Anyone good tips or just taking a time of the bench.

Mark, just an idea. I quick Tamiya build or similar, no hassle, everything fits, do it OOB no AM and a subject you have never done before……I get so little time at the bench the urge is always there. ……hope it helps….l

Mark, I'd go with Phil's suggestions. A good quality kit built OOB. No research, AM or anything.

Many folks like the Bandai Star Wars kits for that purpose. Or perhaps a Tamiya 1/48 kit, either armour or aircraft.

Mark, I am in the exactly same place right now, I think it has something to do with the summer being here and luring me out off my hiding. And that's what I'm going to do, camping in BC for two weeks. No phone, no models, no news faraway from the media.

You are not alone, Mark. My mojo left me about 3 years ago, and didn't really return until we picked up the AMS Resin stuff and I started working on new projects for that. Now I spend way too much time doing that stuff! Take a break and enjoy doing something else for a while.

thank you all for the tips

I already started back with a old hobby and thats running helps me to keep my head clear.

But i will go for the idee a simple kit straight from the box i have a few tamiya armour kits what can go wrong.

Hey Mark, like other suggested, small and quick and get ‘er done!

Very interesting timing on this thread.  Just earlier today I was sitting at my bench and looking at the mess I made of my Revell F-14 (see WIP thread for my embarrassing screw up) and realized I need to build my bigger and more complicated subjects in the winter and during the spring and summer distractions stick to smaller and quicker builds or repeat builds I can knock out faster.

When I'm drained out for some reason from modelling, I don't rush into a new build. I just let it happen. I'm in the hobby for years and the mojo always fought it's way back. I've nothing to prove or to rush, it's jaust it, a hobby.
Like you said in your case, running might help. In a slump, not only modeling wise I tend to do the same, surfing, swimming, riding my MTB or running through the woods with my dog. After a while, I'm normally in sync again and I start to feel the itch for the next project. I never do an easy one automatically to regain the flow, as many simple projects are not very satisfactory and feel like a senior plate in a cheap restaurant. I have to be tempted and if I am, I'm on the track again with modeling.

P.S. Nothing against an easy build, but to me not as a mojo restorer.

Cheers Rob

What I know is that the push for even more detailing and improvement can be a mojo killer sometimes.

I am with the others: building a good-fitting, OOB kit can restore the pleasure of modelling.
I will add however that, personally, I find myself unable to build OOB for subjects I am keen on, like aircrafts. So, if looking for a mojo restorer, I’d probably go for something completely out of my modelling ares of interest. That would probably mean a car, or a motorcycle, or maybe an exotic subject like a tractor or bulldozer …

But I know you are modelling trucks, cars, armour and aircrafts …

Maybe a Bandai Star Wars subject is a good idea ?

Go do some chores!  Do some stuff off the Honey-do list.   Spend too much time away from your bench.  Make your bench time valuable instead of the only thing to do in your time off work.

Nothing gets my mojo flowing better than too little time to model.

Kids?  Grandkids?  Spend some time with them.

Excellent tips in the thread. If I may add one that often rejuvenates some modelling interest. Works for me at least in some extent.

Going to a museum or similar to see the real thing.

I have a Concorde model in the stash just waiting to be started. Some how I haven't even bothered to start. 🤷‍♂️

Today we visited the National Museum of Flight near Edinburgh. I spent a long time ogling the Concorde G-BOAA there, reading the info points, watching the short movies, the works. I wondered why the wheel well parts were different colours, one being brownish and the other green? Looks like some research is needed. Plenty of pictures taken.

Now I can't wait to get home and start banging the kits, might even do both British Airways and Air France versions. (1:144, 1:72)

Glad you enjoyed it Jani, it's a great place and the staff are normally very helpful.

Best air museum in Scotland and surrounded by amazing golf courses if you are that way inclined.
