Soo.... What did you just get???

Another set of tracks from Friulmodel.

This time; their Atl-63 Merkava MK 1/2. Apparently, these were meant

for the old Tamiya kit, but I'm hoping that I can use these on the Takom

Merkava Mk 1 kit. The link & length tracks in th Takom kit are fine, but because the way the upper hull is made in the kit requires that the builder

build-up, and paint the tracks and lower hull prior to joining the upper and lower hulls....

I don't want to do this. I figure I could easily thread the Friul tracks into

position after the kit is fully assembled. Well, we'll see about that.

Anyway, you can probably see I'm enthusiastic about the availability of

Friul tracks. I ordered a set of tracks for my remaining Tamiya T-55a kit.

These were always out of stock when I built my first example of that kit.

I had a break on Friday in the move melee, so the wife and I went out to pick up my xmas raffle prize and birthday present. So I got the Kotare Spit Brian Lane edition and an Academy A-10C with my coins. and then we had dinner out.

I didn't get pictures of anything, as it's still a giant mess of boxes everywhere.

I know the feeling well brother! ... I just had everything moved from the rental into storage while the House was built ...

Packings a pain!

More today from AFV modeller.

For my DasWerk StuG. In 1/16,  some aftermarket resin.

StuG.III Radio Racks (16067) andTwo of their StuG III stowed Mp 40

(16053). The kits' radio stuff looks fine but the AFV racks have more detail

and include the various electrical boxes that are missing in the kit.

Also, the Mp 40 include their mounting brackets. These are missing from

the kit.

Looks like it's a day for 1/16 accessories. My SOL  set for the AHHQ Achilles arrived today too along with some landing gear for the Tamiya F-35B.

PXL_20240209_182012312.thumb.jpg.9d91dc91980c1950b79636c6d6f209ed.jpg

Unfortunately the SOL set is a complete mess. The quality looks very nice but the M2 is missing the entire breech/body of the gun. Upon closer inspection, the storage set looks to be for the M10 version as it doesn't match the box top at all. What's there looks nice but won't work on the Achilles. It's US equipment rather than the British stuff I need.  I've contacted the seller so we'll see what they say.

As for the landing gear set, this will let one build the F-35-B the way it looks on the box art, with the nose off the deck and the front oleo fully extended. Should make for a nice display.

Sorry to hear of the mix up....hope the seller resolves the issue.

Today more Friulmodel tracks; their ATL-01 for T-54/55/62.

Purchased for my Tamiya T-55a. Always out-of-stock before, I found these.

Now, once again, out of stock at Sprue Brothers. The Tamiya kit is nice, but

I think these tracks are needed to bring out its full potential.

Anyway, more items coming this week.

Hi all ...

The second part of my recent order arrived at the post office this morning, so I went to collect it.

IMG_0088.thumb.jpeg.0bb6fc4beb0ef114fc3bde26ed18b8da.jpeg

It's the new Meng 1/12 1998 McLaren MP4/4 Formula 1 car

IMG_0089.thumb.jpeg.54a0ae7a29350838361d273b0408e72f.jpeg

Of course, as usual, there will be no tobacco sponsorship logos in the kit so these needed to be ordered separately in order to get an accurate display model when complete ... By the time I got around to ordering - the store where I bought the Camel decals for the Lotus was out of stock of Marlboro decals for the McLaren so I had to Google some to suit ... fortunately there's a local hobby store that had some after market ones - Unfortunately ... they were more expensive. At least they came with gummy bears though ... so there's that!

As with the Beemax Lotus, I will be doing a build thread on this one.

I hope to get the 'in-box' look and review done this evening ... but my week off has been a bit busy! I fly back to work tomorrow.

Agreed! Always interesting dio pieces, these. Especially when you factor in crew, discarded shell casings, camouflage etc

More items today:

First, from Takom, their French light Tank Renault Ft Char Canon/Berliet

Turret (No.1003) in 1/16 scale. I've been looking for this kit for some time.

The Girod or cast turret is easy enough to find but the Berliet turret version of this kit

with its riveted plate turret is not so easily found. I know of only one

place that sells this kit and its in Hong Kong!  Anyway, I'm happy to have

found it.  The kit comes with a 1/16 resin figure. Nice!

Also today, another set of Friulmodel tracks. This time their  ATL-168

French R 35.  I'm hoping these will fit the Tamiya kit. The Tamiya kit has

excellent link & length tracks that happen to be very tiny. I think it will

be nice to fit these tracks to the Tamiya kit for the added weight .

As a follow-up, I heard from Hobbyeasy and they are getting a replacement set sent to me, either directly from SOL  or from them, whichever is fastest

Oh, I don't know, ........the rugged angularity of these groundbreaking

little tanks appeals to me! Actually, my stash is confined to a walk-in closet

In a small bedroom... admittedly quite full.

I got caught in a weak moment. I’m probably in WAY over my head with this ,but I thought life is short and this won’t be available forever so I thought what the Hell … besides it may increase my estate for Cathy 🤭. Now trying to gather details on these real engines. Have you priced out the Haynes Merlin Owners Manual?! Holy I have seen it for over $300! Thats crazy. I guess it’s Google here I come

Jeff, they're very nice engines. I have the same set for one of my Mossies. I've read there is an issue in that apparently they're the wrong type of Merlin for the Mossie. Something to do with details on the supercharger. I'm not sure how visible it is.

That being said, it's not going to stop me from using them once I get to that build.

No pics, but just got in my Zotz decals for the soon to be released A-20 J/K and a separate order from Hobby Nut with a Quinta Stuka interior and I found a fancy little tool made by Gunze to remove the lid off stuck Mr. Color paints. Also has a cup you drop the bottle into to grip it better.
Yea, I’m gonna love this on days my arthritis is kicking in.

Thanks Carl, not sure about all the decent on the inaccuracy, like you the nay sayers will not deter me as it is my model , that aside I do know the MkVI Mosquito had a variety of engines the Merlin 21,22,23, or 25 and all had little things that were a bit different. So I think we can take some of what the ‘experts’ say with a grain or two. At least that is how I’m looking at it. So we should be good 👍
