Yesterday arrived the big Fokker DR.I in 1/24 from Meng (WNW?). It seems to be a simple build, but includes fabric seat belts and brass gun jackets. My only AM will be an Aviattic decal set for Josef Jacobs all black DR.I. The set plasters the whole plane with fabric decal (nothing new to me ) and includes also wood decals and others for the interior.



I have a sparse ink set, which I really liked to use for figure painting, as a kind of wash or airbrushed for tonal accentuation. I bought the complete 14 color set from AK, as I want to dig deeper into the ink thing.

 

Lastly, my long awaited magnetic tumbler polisher arrived. It took a lot of effort, to get it sent to my remote part of the world, but now it worked.
This will be used, to clean white metal parts from my recent Model Factory Hiro kits (One more is due to arrive soon). You put the parts into the jar add water and some tiny polishing steel pins (which still need to a arrive) and the tumbler swirls the needles around the white metal parts due to a rotating magnet in the base. This cleans and betters the surface quality of the parts.

That´s where the bock in the background comes into play, Martin. Earnestly, I used inks over acrylic paints for figure painting, but there are many other possibilities. The inks are very thin in consistence, but have a lot of pigment and can be used brushed or sprayed. 
One little example, I could remember were the boots of this shaving gent, where I used yellow and brown inks on his boots for color richness and depth.

Glass!  

 

For the empty spaces after rearranging the existing shelves.  Added 6 more shelves. Got some empty space to fill up now! 
 

Brackets and steel for the 6 was $225. 
Glass, $775.  Yep. A grand just for shelving.  There goes the modeling budget for the year.  
 

……Yea, right.

Today ....A big one!

Andy's website said this one was on its way, so I hit the pre-order button

last week. It's Andy's Hobby Headquarters M8 Light Armored Car Greyhound

(AHHQ-008) in 1/16 scale! I've been waiting for this one since it was announced. A cool vehicle in a cool scale. It was delivered by UPS after

a three day delay in Hodgkins Illinois...... Those in the midwest who have

had experience with UPS may know of the UPS Hodgkins Illinois facility.

This facility is known for package delays and packages disappearing.

When I saw it was there....my blood ran cold , but after being there without

updates for three days it was finally on its way.....bullet dodged.

Anyway it looks good....and best of all....it's Big! I'm sure it is going to be

a fun build.

Yikes, a cool $1000 for adding shelving but you gained so much free space for display of your finished models.

I have room to add two more shelves to my glass display case and am planning on going to my glass retailer to order the two shelves and then to my local hardware store for the four brackets. Hopefully, it will take a good while to fill up the shelve space with 48th scale kits. If I went with 32nd scale kits, the additional shelving would be used up way too fast and then I'm out of room.

Finally, your Magnetic Tumbler arrived and it's quite a machine. I would have thought the polishing steel pins would have been included but I'm wrong as usual. 

The inks seemed to be another new adventure to learn and use and the Meng Triplane - looking forward to following your build as I have the kit in the stash.

Inks are definitely worth a look, Peter. For testing the effect you can dilute every high pigmented color, where after thinning no pigments show and ´varnish´ over painted areas. It´s like a wash, but with a lot more density, pigment wise.

The steel pins are included with some tumblers, with others not. I had to take what´s available and had to order extra pins, but that´s no problem, as I could order different sizes for experimenting.
I have some time until first testing, as I start a little week trip to Galicia in Northern Spain for having the finest seafood among other goodies.

Some items today....

 

From Dspiae two items:

      First their ES-P Portable Electric Grinder.

This is a nice little tool. Very well-made, it takes 3mm shank tools (not 1/8)

I also got some sanding discs and connectors for these. Also ordered some

Tungsten grinding bits. It runs at three speeds and is very quiet. I think

it will prove useful.

    Also from Dspiae, their AT-HW  Hand saw. Looks good. Made of anodized

aluminum . I purchased extra sets of fine and very fine blades.

    Also today, came a set of decals by Star Decals. Their 35-888 KV-1 m1940

Nice haul, Paul. I have the grinder as well and had hoped for a more universal collet for slow revolution drilling duties. It´s a nice tool, but a bit limited due to the 3mm shaft diameter.

I agree about the 3mm , but I did see a 20 piece tungsten grinding bit set on Amazon that I might buy . Also I did try the sanding disc set by Dspiae that

I got and they worked well...at slower speeds. I intend to buy the larger

disc set next week and order the 10 piece dispiae tungsten grinding bit set.

Also found that there are chuck adapters with 3 mm shanks that will fit

that convert the device to having an adjustable chuck......although the

set up looks a bit clumsy.

A puppy!  

Wife has been driving me crazy wanting another pup after we lost our old girl over 2 years ago. 
This one’s a mini Bernedoodle.  Should stay in the 40 to 50 lb range. 
I figured we’re not getting any younger and after her health scare, why not? 
Still working on a name.

Congrats on the puppy. We wanted a 40-50 lb dog but Jimmy wasn't having any of that and decided to aim for triple digits. He's 115 lbs.

Some things recently. Mostly accessories for a couple

of Dspiae tools I bought recently. Their saw and sanding pen.

The Dspiae sanding pen is meant for 3mm (.118) shank tool bits.

I found an adapter on Amazon that fits this thing so that other bits

can be used, including 1/8" (.125) bits the adapter chucks are pretty nice

considering their price was (under $9.00 US) but it does increase the length of

the tool...a bit awkward-looking, but it works.

 I also found a set of 20, 3mm shank tungsten grinding bits on Amazon

For $17.00 dollars. They fit the Dspiae tool perfectly and seem to be

good quality. They are sold/made by Yufutol. I also got a 3 piece set of

tungsten grinding bits by Dspiae (GH-002) and have a 10 piece set by

Dspiae (GH-10) coming soon.

I also got 2 sets of blades for my Dspiae saw; fine and extra fine.

Looks like a fine set of tools. Probably more nimble and easier to word with, than the regular corded Proxon or Dremell.
