The Fisheries Museum is further along the harbour from the chip shop, almost behind the Lifeboat station in this photo. Definitely worth a visit if you ever return Carl.

There are 2 very good chip shops at the harbour. One is always very busy as it was the one Prince William visited when he was a student at St Andrews but we actually prefer the other which is also quieter. They both do excellent ice cream as well, so main course and dessert!

Missed it bythismuch!  Not a 1911, but a new version of the Browning Hi-Power.  1911 was a 7 rd .45 ACP and the Hi-Power is a 15 rd. 9mm.  They look very close because both were designed by John Moses Browning.  This one is made by Springfield Inc. and has a few improvements over the original.

Thank you Gus, for being the embedded researcher for Scottish fishing vessel affairs . The layout of the hull is very much looking like mine, which is typical for these boats. I ´ve seen some pictures of other boats, which share the shape of the hull, but are different above the deck.
I´m really astonished about the bulwark being so low with these tough weather proved boats. There is not a lot of protection from the sea on deck.

The fishermen who sailed these were definitely a hardy bunch. The North Sea is pretty inhospitable a lot of the time, so to go out in these took courage and sailing skill. 

I have a memory of reading that the bulwark was low like that so that water that did wash over was able to wash off again easily and not trap on the deck.

Had an original Belgian high power for years ...an excellent pistol

I did not know about the Springfield Armory one..cool addition to their line

Got a German Shepherd today. 

Trying to decide if I let him have the MG34 the sidecar can be armed with. 

Also got a detail set for the BTTF DeLorean.

I don't see the Flux Capacitor though.

Almost certainly the last kits for this year. A couple more Gundam kits. Not sure why the sudden urge to get them.

First up, is my second favourite Gundam design. This one has been tweaked by Hajime Katoki who is a Japanese mecha designer. 

Another one from the Ver.Ka series of kits. 

This one I got to go with the earlier Psycho Zaku i picked up. I figured if I'm going to have a Zaku in Beast mode, I might as well have a Gundam in the same. 

These boxes are fairly big. They're similar to a Tamiya Spitfire box but much deeper. 

And they're absolutely packed with sprues. 

And yet, they come with stickers instead of decals.  Although the Unicorn Gundam has dry transfers in the box for some of the markings.

Hi all, Happy New Year and hopefully 2025 maybe good to all of us. I’ve been away awhile and thought I’d give LSM another go. The main news is I have joined the league of retired gentlemen as of the end of November last year and I am now settling into uninterrupted benchtime whenever I please. So the bench has been cleaned, existing projects being completed and a plethora of new kits to begin.
 

The Stug and QL Refueller were Xmas presents. The QL is to be included in a diorama with the Border Spitfire Vb all in 1/35. One historical point I didn’t know was the QL Refueller with booms never saw wartime service. The Stug III Ausf F is the missing Pz III in the collection. 

My preferred online retailer offered 10% discount and free P&P to existing customers over the festive season so the following was a no brainer. The HKM Lancaster in 1/48 is the grail kit for me. Built the Monogram 17G many years ago and always promised myself if the Lanc ever came available it had to added to the stash. Also the size is manageable, 1/32 for a four engined aircraft is just too large. The markings will be from 3 Group airfields. Either, my school I attended was built on part of the dispersal area or from another that has a family connection . Also catching up with what’s been going on.

Two tweezers One by Dspiae, their AT-TZ01 point tip tweezers.

The other set by Regine...A Swiss Company. I saw these on Amazon and

I had some Amazon points to use.  Both Tweezers are good quality....The

Dspiae tweezers are a real bargain I think.

       I also got a reference  book on M 10/36 tank destroyers.

A bit disappointing, this one....more of a pamphlet, but some useful

info. Again, purchase with Amazon points.

      A set of Eduard masks for the Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire.

Last; a couple of Hasegawa  "Egg Girl" resin figure Kits in1/12 scale.

These are ones  that are hard to find. They are long OOP. 

I found them on EBAY at reasonable prices. One,shipped from S. Korea

came by Fedex in just 3 days....shipping was free !

Carl, much appreciated. My thoughts are that there are numerous 1/35 accessories you could add to a mixed genre diorama. I also have Borders Fw190 and the possibilities of adding to that are enormous.

CONGRATS!!!

But I have to chuckle just a little because I thought the same thing heading into my retirement.  I’ve never been busier since I retired!  I think I built more kits when I was working.  Now it’s grandkids, yard chores, honey do’s, trips here, trips there, medical issues, etc.  

I’m spending this weekend in lock down with the three grandkids. 1.5 to 5.5 yo.  Grandma cannot handle these monsters alone.  Maybe when the youngest goes down for a nap I can get another decal applied?

What an amazing news Phil, congratulations. That 1/48 Lancaster was calling my name for a while, then Carl showed up with the 1/32 scale version that somehow ended up on my kitchen table and it is enormous. It is safe to say, that the quarter scale Lanc. is the way to go. Can't wait for your build.

Thanks Scott, luckily no kids and all the ancients are in homes or have carers, so at the present before the outdoor chores start I am going to enjoy the bench……much appreciated though….

Martin, you are an officer and a gentleman, I’ve wanted the Lanc forever but as you say at 32nd it’s a behemoth. I’ll definitely do a WIP. I have four projects on the bench to spray and decal and then I’ll have to make a decision….
