JohnB Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Getting started on this one. As with the SBD it is one of their better kits. I'll be using the VERY nice Black Box resin cockpit set which should really dress up the interior. Not quite certain of which particular a/c it will represent but I'm leaning toward a 3-tone Enterprise bird. We'll see. Sure would like to have some nice plastic or resin wheels to replace the kit rubber ones. 5
GusMac Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 That cockpit set looks great. A worthwhile investment with so much glazing. Ah, the curse of the Trumpy rubber tyres! Given it is regarded as one of their A team efforts, it's a bit of a surprise that there don't seem to be resin replacements. 4

I really lucked out on the resin set and got it for $25.00 and free shipping. It looks like I'll have to live with the rubber tires. Too bad P-51, Bf-109 etc tires won't work as there are more after market sets of those than a dog has fleas. Oh well. 2
Dave J Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 You can get resin wheels here - http://signifer.chez-alice.fr/uk.htm 3

GusMac Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Wow Dave, never heard of them, but there is some cool stuff there. Some very esoteric seaplanes if that's your thing.
Administrators James H Posted July 25, 2018 Administrators Posted July 25, 2018 This is one kit that really appeals to me. I love the interior stuff, and this one looks like it's been designed by Trumpeter's A-Team. 2
JohnB Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 It seems to be one of their better kits. Fairly large too. The interior is nice but the Black Box set is MUCH nicer but retails at $60.00. I found it on ebay for $24.95 with free shipping which I jumped on! LOL 2
Peterpools Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Hi John Nice to see you're underway with the Trumpeter Avenger. Of course, I'll be following with great interest and be along for the journey as always. I'm still working on my 48th scale Harrier and started a build thread in the Non LSM forum. Keep 'em comin Peter 3
JohnB Posted July 25, 2018 Author Posted July 25, 2018 Thanks Peter. Sure am glad you are here!! John 2
Members Mikester Posted July 26, 2018 Members Posted July 26, 2018 I think this is one of Trumpeter's nicer efforts, looking forward to seeing this one. 3
JohnB Posted July 26, 2018 Author Posted July 26, 2018 Seems to be a good one Mike. I'm still undecided of which a/c it will depict. Three tone for sure though. 1
JohnB Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 Got some of the resin interior pieces done. I still have to add the throttle and other bits but at least there is some progress. 6
GusMac Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Nice. Have you added any wiring or is that all part of the resin? 1

jep1210 Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Damn fine work so far. I can't believe all that detail is included in the resin. 2
JohnB Posted August 4, 2018 Author Posted August 4, 2018 Thanks. I agree that the resin details are very nice. Much better than the kit plastic parts. 1
