PanzerWomble Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Quote I miss Dale too , his passing came as a complete shock, even though I knew he was very ill. I loved the way he used to gift his models to the local kids he taught . He was a great guy 2 3
BlrwestSiR Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 Martin, that's a great tribute to Dale. He is definitely missed. 2 1
Martinnfb Posted January 25, 2024 Author Posted January 25, 2024 Thank you guys, the kit has been sitting on the top shelf for years and I didn't see any reason to finish it, since it wasn't a real build , more of a demonstrator. Even the camouflage was chosen by Dale . He really liked unorthodox schemes so we'd split the Kagero decals. I remember telling him how much I wish that WNW would release 109, preferably the K-variant. It was his favorite as well. And what has happened recently?,,,, , well, that's just such a trippy coincidence. I miss him, intelligent, kind, caring, accomplished and humble. 4
HubertB Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Thanks Martin. Dale was a great friend sorely missed 😢 Hubert 4 1

ScottsGT Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Speaking of Dale, I was researching something I’m working on and one of his threads popped up. I spent an hour rereading a lot of his posts. He certainly was a character, especially when he was trying a new med or got them out of whack. We’ve lost a lot of good people over the years. 5
ScottsGT Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Oh crap. Forgot why I came here. Derp! 🤪 Almost there! Finish up the seats and a good wipe down to remove all the decal residue and she’s done. 9
Martinnfb Posted January 27, 2024 Author Posted January 27, 2024 Now , that’s shiny and beautiful. And it matches to your drawers too. “” talking about Dale, he was always very self conscious and embarrassed, becoming overly apologetic when that happened. 5
ScottsGT Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Yea, I remember a lot of us telling him don’t worry. We get it. And just how do you know what color drawers I’m wearing today? 😡 All kidding aside, I think my bench has been sending me subliminal messages to build this finally! Only been in the plans 15+ years. 3 2

ScottsGT Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Actually, I just got it in the mail yesterday. I’m about to take a pic and post it with some other goodies the mailman brought me. 4
belugawhaleman Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Whats on my bench? A big Sherman that now, due to circumstances, must be put on hold. A little more than a week ago, My mother fell on some stairs. The result was a fractured wrist and upper humerus. We put her in a local rehab facility, but we were not pleased with the standard of care. My sister and I have been caring for her at home. My sister is leaving at the end of the week, so I will be caring for her while living at her home. So, I will be away from my bench for a long time. My sister has been amazing..... She's like a force of nature: organizing everything so far excellently. I have some hospital experience with patients I think I'll do fine. I have already been bringing her to the doctors appointments and everything for a couple of years. I don't mind...it's my duty to do so. Anyway, I will still post things if I can; purchases, comments etc. I enjoy seeing other members builds even if I'm not building...The talent, civility, and generous spirit of this forum is amazing. Thanks; Paul P.S. My mother is doing very well and is in good spirits. 7
PanzerWomble Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 More distraction whilst I let oils dry . Too advanced already for the twin build but needs completion . 3

I take my Dad grocery shopping weekly since he can't drive any more. Sue does the same for her folks when they ask. It's the least we can do to make things easier for them. We're just happy that we can help them out and I'm sure it's same for you. 2 1

Thanks, her recovery will take a long time but we're getting her the best help we can..we've got physical therapy all set up and in addition to my help we also arranged to have a nurse or aid to visit a couple times a week. What was great was the ability of myself and my siblings to join forces to organize and manage her care. As in your case , I feel its our duty to take care of parents the best we can. 4
PanzerWomble Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 There comes a point where roles reverse with parents and the child becomes the care giver. It’s an odd time to transition for both quite often. Wishing a speedy recovery to you both. for me …..distraction continues 5

The reason for this was to show to my friend a former member here Dale, how to use various techniques and pass him as much knowledge as I could. We were sitting in front of Skype for days and playing with plastic, becoming close friends. He’s not with us anymore and I miss him and going to finish this. Martin Right with the guys and it's a wonderful tribute and a lasting memory. 2 1

Many years ago, my wife I always attended the Reading Air Show in Pennsylvania and at one show we were treated to both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds in their F4's and the Snowbirds as well. The airport is in a valley and when those Phantoms lit up their afterburners, the sounds were amazing. This was the last time I saw either Team flying their Phantoms as they switched to smaller and less gas consuming aircraft ... geez, those were the days. 2

Just so glad you and your sister are caring for her at home where she will recover much quicker. You both have hearts of gold. 3
