Watching the video again and reviewing the instructions, the amount of cable they give you in the kit isn't anywhere near enough if you plan to have a loaf on the trailer. There's about 25cm of cable (rope actually) in the kit and you need almost double that if you're doing a 3:1 winch like in the video. BlrwestSiR Posted August 30, 2020 Author Share Posted August 30, 2020 Spent some time tonight painting the trailer. First I added some of the kit's PE bits to the top of the trailer . There's six per side and thankfully Thunder moulds an indentation for where they go so it wasn't as painful as I thought it might get. I then gave everything a base coat of dark yellow. This was them oversprayed with Light Stone for some modulation. I then added the blue black splotches and olive drab squiggles. I then took a sponge sanding stick and carefully wet sanded the top deck. I think it's turned out nicely. One thing I noticed in the video is that the jacks aren't kept attached to the trailer as the instructions would have you so I'm going to leave them off. Spitfire Posted August 31, 2020 Share Posted August 31, 2020 Just read this from the start, great work going on here, years ago I used to build armour as a relaxing break after aircraft builds but a Bronco A13 finished that for me, it's still on the shelf of doom after 8 years. The tracks were the end of my AFV building hobby, I bought the Bronco track set, even tried the AA Crusader Trakpax but gave up in the end. Cheers Dennis Bronco armour kits are definitely on the fiddly side. I've started two and yet to finish either one. Or is it three? Maybe try one of the other brands Dennis? My Takom Jagdtiger went together like a dream. It's part of their Blitz line which is supposed to be easier to assemble. Yes they use ten parts when two would do, I did build their Staghound which came out well, I even built Maquette's Valentine IV and XI which were challenging and you cannot go wrong with the Tamiya kits but for some reason the A13 finished it for me. I only built British and Commonwealth subjects and wanted to build a BEF collection. Maybe one day I will go back as I do have an extensive armour stash and reference section. Some of the parts seem to be in scale thickness which doesn't leave a lot of joint/glue area. Then the base for the driver's seat. For the backrests, I decided to thin them out a bit as the support frame looks a bit thick. The three I've done are on the left compared to the stock one on the right. Turning to the Grant, I've added some of the hull details. I bought a multi set with various thicknesses to try and find the best fit. Unfortunately the only one that could fit through the guide rollers was 0.6 mm and look far too thin. So I ended up drilling between the rollers a 0.9 mm hole and will use that size cable. The hole can't be seen from any angle and is probably what I should have done initially. BTW, there is a hexagonal cap near the rope which cries for a little scrape with a blade, victim of the macro . It happens to me all the time. The bellows shaped thingys have a pair of PE brackets that hold them in place on the frame. Good thing I only lost two of them. I used the survivors as templates and cut out new ones from leftover brass on the fret.
