1/35 Tamiya German Sturmgeschutz sdjfz163
RalphSarc replied to RalphSarc's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Work continued today on another very nice Tamiya kit. With the exception of a few misplaced injector pin marks the kit has been trouble free. I really do enjoy these armor builds, lol!! -

Building the suspension and lower hull parts. It's amazing to complexity of the German tank suspension over the American and Russian tanks. -

I saw several kits yesterday with new styrene tracks! What are you thoughts on those? Also how about the snap track system? -

Oh thanks Wayne. I really do enjoy building armor kits but I'm an aircraft builder at heart, lol!! -
Yeah No.245 Squadron served with Fighter Command from 1939 until 1943, before joining 2nd Tactical Air Force to take part in the D-Day invasion. The squadron was reformed on 30 October 1939 at Leconfield, and was originally equipped with Blenheim fighters. In January 1940 Battles were issued for training in single engined aircraft, and in March the squadron converted to the Hurricance. In January 1943 the squadron converted to the Typhoon, and in June 1943 it joined the new 2nd Tactical Air Force. Attacks on targets in France continued, but now with communications targets as the main priority. In April 1944 the squadron began to use rockets as its main weapon.Several aircraft including Typhoon IB MP197 MR-U has Sharkmouth nose air!

I painted the rear fuel tanks with Tamiya XF-62 Olive Drab and then weather them with the Flory washes and Vallejo Pigments to break up and highlight them. I like the mud effects of the pigments. -

Building and installing road wheels. Oh boy, lol!!! The T-62A has tracks. Love this build so far!! Dry brushed with Tamiya XF-9 Hull Red and XF-16 Flat Aluminum. Applied Flory Dark Dirt and Brown wash to the tracks and hull sides with the addition of Vallejo Burnt Umber Pigment. Love the look!!! -

While waiting for the Future coat to cure on my Revell 1/32 Hawker Typhoon I slammed away at the T-62A. My hats off to Tamiya as this is a very well engineered kit making the fit perfect! Very fun build!! The turret. The Hull. Machine gun and gunners hatch. Commanders, gunner and drivers hatches. OOB wire engine vents. Nice touch!! Rear turret looking forward. Working on the road wheels and will prime/highlight the turret and hull today after I decal the Typhoon! -

Slamming through this Russian T-62A. What a great build. Highly recommended!! I guess some will say the detail is missing on the Tamiya kits over other manufacturers but this simple armor guy could tell detail missing from one tanks to another. Others will say the rubber one piece tracks are trash but I find they finish well with washes and pigments and look great. I'm going to order a Meng kit and forgo suffering through a Trumpeter kit as my friend Richard did to gain experience with another kit manufacturer! But for now I love me some Tamiya armor, lol!! -
