  1. I've had troubles with kitlinx as well. My last issue....they listed an item as " Available for Immediate shipment " Ten days later they still hadn't shiped it.
  2. Do not do any business with these people...pure trouble! They have other websites ......watch out! I had loads of trouble from them! I had posted my troubles with them previously on this forum...try to find my post for the details. My problems were with one of their other businesses Hobby models.....check the address on the site....the same.
  3. Thanks Fran! I just found that one of my local suppliers has it. I'll give it a try.
  4. I remember when I used the microscale stuff on a canopy it kind of Beaded up and pulled away from where I wanted....perhaps that was due to mold release still on the part..who knows..but I hated it. I have a bottle Of the Vajello stuff that's about five years old....I bought another being concerned about possible shelf life...Unfounded concern? Probably.
  5. I had lost track of this build! That's looking great!
  6. Actually, not that flammable compared to let's say denatured alcohol, or other products. It burns with a slow, sooty flame. Its use in Coleman lamps requires it to be atomized to produce a bright flame. I was more troubled by the possibility of it ruining the finish of the model, but still, you're right it's probably best to avoid flammable products if you can...especially when discarding the rags, cotton balls, or swabs you will need to apply it. I wonder how flammable Tamiya airbrush cleaner is when I spray it Out my airbrush (atomized)!......Now there's a thoughtšŸ¤”
  7. Thanks Rob, I'll have a look for the Mr. hobby Sol. Yes, I remember the Microscale stuff..years ago tried it..didn't like it.
  8. I'm planning on using them on these Hasegawa "Egg Girls" figures but I'm also thinking of using them on armor models. I was thinking that blu-tac might be useful to remove the mask.
  9. I know lighter fluid is the same as naptha....a mild solvent used in things like Coleman lantern fuel. It can be used to remove stickers and adhesive tape residue but the idea of spreading it on a model...yikes. I use it as fuel to run model hit and miss engines . As an addendum, I don't think it will harm most paints ...and it really doesn't leave an oily residue........still, not sure
  10. Anybody have recommendations or advice regarding liquid masking solutions? I just purchased a bottle of Vallejo masking solution and some by Mr. Hobby....their NEO solution. Any good? I'll be using these over Lacquer..Tamiya and Mr. hobby. Any comments, opinions and advice would be much appreciated. Thanks; Paul
  11. Some very interesting options for a build.
  12. I noticed that shipping options have gone up on the Plaza Japan site...so, I'll probably stop ordering from them for a while. On my last order I chose one of the cheaper options and I'm still waiting....it's been a week and it's still in Japan according to the tracking. The shipment doesn't include anything vital, so the wait is not a big deal. We'll see how long it takes. My experience with BNA in Australia regarding shipping has always been great. I get my orders from there faster than I get them from California!
  13. I agree the Tamiya 1/32 aircraft kits if purchased in the US are expensive. That's what has kept me sticking to their armor kits. I was just speaking generally of my experience with Tamiya. The prices for the Tamiya 1/32 kits on Plaza Japan are very reasonable...... But the shipping! I've been thinking pulling the trigger on one of these using their cheapest shipping rate and just waiting the extra time. We'll see. It's great that your son could send a kit if needed. Actually, I like the Tempest , and you're doing a fine job. I've looked at Special Hobby before.I like that they're not afraid to produce off the beaten track subjects.
  14. Looking great..I like the bullet damage on the car.
  15. That's why I rate.....Tamiya.... Always excellent fit, engineering, instructions, and customer service. Not that I have anything against Special Hobby.
  16. Thanks, I would say that's a perfect choice.
  17. John, if anyone could make a stunning model out of this one it would be you!
  18. And suddenly, ...The scene comes alive! What kit is the car?
  19. A number of things.... First, an Amazon buy....Tamiya's M51 IDF Sherman. I built this kit before ,but I found this on Amazon for $ 33.00 USD...and with free shipping! Not bad. Also, two sets (3 brushes) from AIT size 20/0....I needed to replace mine. A set from Star Decals These are for French tanks, Char 1 bis and SOMUA, that were recaptured from the Germans by Free French forces. Another interesting option. Some paint from Mr. Hobby...."Character Flesh #2"..... Some more on the way. Yes , More Friulmodel Tracks... For Panzer III/IV s this time And lastly a couple of Hasegawa "Egg Girls"....I don't know, I just like these things , something off the beaten path.
  20. I currently have five kits that I have started that are in limbo at the moment.... Two only need painting, so not to bad. Others, like the Amusing hobby Fv4005 still need minor work...then painting....I just lost interest in that one. I recently started A Tamiya M8 greyhound that I need to get back to...Not much needed on that one. Carl, I admire your ability to keep so many projects going....very impressive.
  21. I originally bought a set of fine point black markers to paint the French Camouflage that has black lines bordering the different colors but haven't tried them for that yet. I have silver and gold and some other colors. I haven't seen the AK pens but will certainly give them a look.
  22. Just heard about the Canada Ban! Crazy! Does include their Surface primers? Bottled Lacquers?
  23. It's just getting better and better!
