Now in finished armor. -
Finished up today. This was a fun build. I really like the looks of this quirky beast. I see Trumpeter has a few more of these Soviet tractors, including one called the Komintern that is a really strange looking thing with a long hood and funky-looking suspension system. This was my first try at Friulmodel tracks and they left a positive impression. I'm going to see about trying that chemical blackening solution. Anyway, Here are some pictures.

Voroshilovets 1/35 tractor.
belugawhaleman replied to belugawhaleman's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks, but I chose a simpler approach. Since I decided not to do much weathering on my tractor, I sprayed the tracks with Testers non buffing metalizer gun metal which gave A nice blackish finish. After this dried, I used a q-tip soaked with liquid plastic cement to remove the paint from the high spots exposing the bare metal underneath. I think it looks OK. The tracks are on the model now. On my next model with metal tracks, I'll do the same, but I'll try a light rust wash. This will be the Trumpeter PT-76. -

Thanks; I started working on the Fruilmodel tacks. These are nice. I've made one side. About 70 Links. They required no clean-up, but I did run a .5mm drill through each link. It's time consuming to assemble these, but it's not as tedious as I thought it would be. They look Pretty good. -
Voroshilovets 1/35 tractor.

Nearing completion Installed half the road wheels and the decals. Still in gloss coat. Excited about the Fruilmodel tracks; will they be fun to assemble or tedious repetition ,like painting the tires on the wheels? I noticed that the windows assemble from the outside into recesses around the outside of the window frames. I think the only way to glue these would be some of the canopy glue I have. But I'm wondering if the glue might still be visible when dried. Would it be best to thin the glue before applying? Anyway, some pictures. -

Just applied a clear gloss coat and the color deepened a bit. Looks better. There are only two small decals.......small red triangles. Next, I'll paint the tires On the road wheels, do the Friulmodel tracks, and then final assembly. A quick satisfying build so far. -
Got some paint on the Trumpeter Voroshilovets tractor I've been working on. The paint mix is a little lighter than I hoped for, but I think it's OK.

Looks like an interesting kit of a really good-looking aircraft. Thanks for the great pictures. Incidentally, I just looked at my YouTube subscriptions, and I see that the HyperScale channel has an unboxing video of this kit that came out about 13 hours ago It's HyperScale video workshop no.207 I'll see if I can provide a link, although your post Covers the kit very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgpyoe5LZxk

Me? In the car I leave the radio tuned to Chicago radio station WFMT A classical music station. When I'm working at my bench, I put the tv on a news channel and leave it. However, so much of what I hear on the news lately I find truly irritating (I'll leave my Political views out of this) so the news may no longer be an option. My mother suggested listening to audio books. I think I may try this. This would be, in effect, combining my two favorite pastimes.

Working on this: A Soviet Voroshilovets tractor in 1/35 by Trumpeter. An excellent kit, with great detail and very good fit. So far it has gone together quickly; I started it Saturday afternoon and I'm nearly ready for paint and final assembly. I have a set of Fruilmodel tracks for this model and they look pretty good. Anyway, here is a picture of it so far. Its mostly dry-fitted in the picture. -
A surprise came in the mail today. After waiting for just about a month and without any tracking updates from the Spanish mail. My order from FC Model Trend came today. Its a pair of 3D printed headlamp guards for Trumpeter's 1/35 kit of the Soviet PT-76. These replace the kits PE parts. Well, I think they look pretty good. They are nicely printed and are suitably delicate looking when compared to the kit parts. I'm glad I don't have to mess around with the kits PE parts now.

Growing up in the 70's we had a neighbor who had his own airstrip on his property. And I remember seeing a Ryan PT-20 taking off and landing and circling above my neighborhood and I just had to find out what it was. When I did it became my dream Aircraft. I always wanted to build the Fisher model, but my lack of experience with resin, its price, and my fear of tackling a natural metal finish kept me from doing so. Well, I Hope you treat us to a build thread! This same neighbor also had a Republic Sea-Bee , an ugly amphibious airplane

These finally came in the mail today.........from BNA in Australia. Don't laugh it was the only place that I could find that had them in stock. It took awhile to get to Gurnee, Illinois but it was worth it. They are metal tracks for a t-55 tank made by MasterClub in1/35 scale. They are OMsh type and I hope they will fit my Tamiya kit. Each track link requires two tiny resin pins to fit in place. I could not find any Friulmodel tracks in stock anywhere. Anyway, here's a picture of the box.

Thanks for the replies. I may give them a try. Paul

I'd love to make that kit, especially in Britanic form, but I'm too poor and lazy to accomplish such a grand project. I'm interested to know what the extra deck hardware Was. I remember seeing a documentary on the Britanic that featured actual underwater footage of the wreck and interview of a survivor. She was a nurse. This Was many years ago. I think it was a Jacques Cousteau special. If I remember correctly, the ship was laying on its side and was in not too deep water. Anyway, thanks for giving something to think about. Regards; Paul.
