  1. In which case they are in the same ballpark as a Tamiya Phantom with all the bells and whistles to make it an up-to-date 1/32 replica. Hubert
  2. Seeing one build thread out of 500 produced sounds about right. I skipped the Viggen, but got myself registered on the preorder list for the Learjet and Skyrocket Hubert
  3. And you forget all the new products coming from Central and Eastern Europe … Can you imagine Roden just announced the release of an icon among the icons, a Greyhound bus ? Hubert
  4. Amazing as usual ! Hubert
  5. Hopefully, they will have learnt from their own (bitter) experience: that you need a great dose of passion and commitment to bring world class subjects to the market. But also that passion must not go to the point that you have a lame duck already before the launch (Gotha UWD anyone ?) or that the commitment to ultimate detailing will bring your costs far beyond the point where you can expect a reasonable Return on Investment («Ultimate » Lancaster anyone ?) If the learnings are here, then we may well see a « mainstream » WWII subject, even if I would personally much prefer … say a Lockheed Vega in 1/32, rather than a P-51 B … And, in all honesty, they may also find that 1/48 generates far less developments costs and greater volumes than 1/32 (yeahh, I know Burn the Heretic ! I’ll even supply the matches ) Anyway, out with my ramblings, and I wish Kotare all the best. (They could even have chosen a duck rather than a kingfisher for a name IMHO) Hubert
  6. Although I am flattered that you confuse me with a talent like Cees, Peter, let’s give back to Cesar what belongs to Cesar Hubert
  7. Hey ! Don’t go contradicting good intentions ! Hubert PS: Kai, is it done yet ?
  8. Popcorn is just ON TOP of Pasteis de Nata, Pudim and Molotov, Rob (not to mention leitao or cataplana) ... Hubert
  9. Is it done yet ? (I picked-up 10 Kgs following your build and have now exhausted the Portuguese popcorn production capacities ) Hubert
  10. I almost missed the start of your WIP thread before seeing it here ! You’re definitely a fast builder, Mike, and the result is, per your usual, stunning Hubert
  11. I was about to argue the same. If the goal is broad coverage, the cheap knockoffs you find on EBay and other sites are good enough in most cases. Hubert
  12. You’re talking about Carl’s birthday cake ? Hmmm …. yummy ! Hubert
  13. Now that you have mastered the vocabulary of rigging, chapter and verse, how about a DH-2 or RE-8 ? Stunning result with the DR-1 is the other well deserved expletive ! Hubert
  14. Not being as smart as a certain LSP member, I found myself started on the Silhouette with less than an afternoon’s learning curve (and the task was to enlarge to 1/32 and make masks from the pic of 1/48 decals for a North Korean Mig 15 for Martin ) I later found out that, if you are using another CAD software, then the (for extra $) « pro » Silhouette software, that allows the import of vector files is a great plus. In short, never regretted this buy Hubert
  15. What Harv said ! Hubert
  16. If you google Marion Ball, you'll see some of her techniques / advice on-line. IIRC, she talks about a 10:90 dilution for painting acrylics. She says that, as it dries fast, she can build up the layers quickly. HTH Hubert PS: there is also Kiril Kanaev's amazingly good (that is an understatement, believe me) - but probably expensive when shipped down under - book, sold on AK / MIG's website
  17. Your figure is hundred times better than what I could achieve. From what I read from the experts like Marion Ball, the secret with acrylics is to use multiple very diluted layers to achieve the same blending effect as with oils. Keep going. You’ll prevail on that pig of a kit in the end. Hubert
  18. For a (brief) moment, I thought you had decided to show a Mirage under tarpaulins Hubert Aaaand ….. Is it done yet ?
  19. Having both the ITC plastic and Scratchbuilders’ resin kits in my stash, I’d happily forego these investments for a Lukgraph 1/32 one ! Hubert
  20. I am waiting for the preorders to open, Kai. But they have to clear the Viggen production first (mind you, I’d have jumped on a Draken) Hubert
  21. Many here know my obsession interest in civilian subjects, and requests wishes to see more of them kitted. So this is my private moment to praise the initiative of a manufacturer, who just announced that preorders are open for their new 1/32 baby: The De Havilland DH 90 Dragonfly ! For those of you who don’t know it, the Dragonfly was the small brother of the DH 89 Dragon Rapide, aimed at the private / executive market. If you think the Dragon Rapide lines were beautiful, then wait until you have seen the Dragonfly : the epitome of British flying sexiness ! Well done Lukasj ! I hope you will get plenty of orders for this one (mine’s already passed), especially as the price, for a short-run resin kit with this level of details, seems reasonable enough. https://lukgraph.pl/en_GB/p/De-Havilland-DH.90-Dragonfly-132-PREORDER/182 Come on guys, join me to relish on the Dark Side Hubert
  22. Agree with you, Wolf. Andy’s build shows an inordinate amount of fitting issues and design flaws. On the other hand, HPH kits are notoriously the opposite of Tamiya when it comes to fitting and eas of build, and Infinity is just an injection-molded plastic version of HPH … Don’t get me wrong. I am not an « HPH-basher ». HPH at least have the guts of going where Tamiya will never be spotted (which is why I have plenty of HPH kits, and only one Tamiya kit, in my stash ) Hubert
  23. Usual nice detail work, Peter 👍 Hubert
