  1. Your Corsair looks as far along as mine. I've pushed it to my son's end of the bench for the moment.
  2. Looks good John. You're just motoring along. Carl
  3. Got the first run of 99 links done... And then went back and got more done on the U-boat.
  4. Harv, if that's your idea of slapping on filler, can you come to our house and do some tuck pointing? I've got some cracks in our brick that need filling. Your "slapping on" is neater than my precision application. Oh and glad to see you back at the bench. Carl
  5. I second Ron on the Infini sanding sticks. They last a long time like he said. I usually add a couple to my orders from HLJ when I need them. Carl
  6. Build it as a What if? gunship. Hang a bunch of Lewis guns pointing out the portside passenger windows.
  7. Nice but of progress Ian. Would the Dambuster planes had this seat as well? Carl
  8. Thanks for the pics Ernie. You can definitely see the origins of the plastic kit from the resin one. The loss of depth for the interior details is certainly due to moulding limitations and what they can pull from a steel mould versus a silicon one. As for drilling all the dive flap holes, I think that's the airplane equivalent of assembling Model Kasten tracks for a Sherman. Carl
  9. Tracks. Started on the tracks for the T-95. Need 4 runs of 100 links. Here's the first 41. Definitely just something to work on between other stuff. Like this:
  10. John, let me know if you want the Eduard exterior set for the kit. I have here I won't use. Carl
  11. Not Tamiya, they just announced a new version of their 1/48 Tomcat with dropped flaps and slats.
  12. Glad you finally got it Harv. It amazes me that any company that is dependant on paying customers should have such poor customer relations. Carl
  13. Jerry, yours is the first one I've seen built. Thanks for sharing. It's does look nice. Carl
  14. There's some shape issues with the kit. Shocking I know. Mostly the cowl and the opening under the prop. The rear windows apparently have a shape problem as well. The MLG bay has the incorrect front wall that so many Mustang kits have. The leading edge kink at the wing roots is the wrong shape I think as well. Jerry Rutman used to do a correction set that fixed the cowl and gear bays. Grey Matter Figures (who bought many of Jerry's masters) didn't bother with that set unfortunately. The Aires MLG is supposed to be a decent substitute if not 100% accurate. I think there is a new rear window coming from a guy called 109 Ace. He used to be on LSP but you can find him on eBay. Can't recall what his seller's name is there. I can't recall the rivet situation so something will have to comment there. As I sold mine before getting around to it, I don't know how it goes together either. Maybe HK or ZM will finally being out a modern kit this decade. Or do as Martin did and graft a Hasegawa nose onto a Revell fuselage. Or was it a Revell razorback onto a Hasegawa one? Carl
  15. Just catching up on this. Fantastic work on the engine. Carl
  16. Fantastic builds. The photography and presentation are great too. Which kit is the 109? Carl
  17. John is the only person I know that had managed to get the Fine Mold seat belts to look and drape like the real thing. Every time I tried, they either melted or snapped apart. Which is why I sent him all the ones I had left. Oh, and awesome start to the Corsair John.
  18. Maketar makes them. https://shop.maketar.com/?product=132-u-s-roundels-1942-1943 I believe Hannant's carried them.
  19. Having the Dragon T95 in the stash, I really don't trust the self destructing DS tracks it came with. I finally decided to get the Rye Field T80 tracks for the kit. Due to the T95 having a double run of tracks, I need 3 sets of Sherman tracks to outfit it. My LHS got a shipment of Fruil tracks in so I grabbed the Conqueror ones for my Badger. They also had a few of the BSG kits in. Mobius recently lost the license to make these so they're getting hard to find. I decided to get them while I could.
  20. No, chainsaws are too much manual labour Martin. Semtex does the same but with much less physical exertion.
  21. Thanks for the info Hubert. Glad to hear it's one of their better efforts. Carl
  22. Guess it shows they're human after all. Both Hobby Design and Top Studio make detail sets for the Panigale. I think someone does a PE chain too. Yup, individual PE chain links.
  23. Forget 1/200, how about this one? It was built for the film Raise the Titanic. I wonder if they got the hull right? With the Bronco Type XXIII on my bench, that's about as big as I'd want to get a model me thinks. More importantly I think that's as big as Sue would let me.
