  1. Those pilots seat frames look like they could hold up a bridge. Any reason they were made so stout? Carl
  2. Just catching up with your progress on this Rob. It looks great so far. Love the pop of colours you're using on the cockpit. So much brighter than the usual grey or black interiors. Carl
  3. Now that's a definition I can get behind. Can't wait to see your build. Carl
  4. Stay dry folks!
  5. They do indeed. I was thinking head swap to a DOHC one from a 1st gen TSX. Would bump the redline up to 8k and an extra 40hp. Don't know if the supercharger is an easier option. Or do both
  6. Jumping back to the engine, I've started on the painting. I did the cylinders in Extreme Metal aluminum. I then masked them off to paint the crankcase. The pipes were done in semigloss black. Time to start adding the ignition wires.
  7. Thanks @Kaireckstadt and @Peterpools! Peter, the subject I'm doing is so weathered that even Dana Bell had a hard time figuring out what the colours were. Which I think gives me a pretty wide margin for interpretation.
  8. Frank, that gun blister looks awesome. Same for the gun mount too. Carl
  9. Looks great there Tony. If anything, maybe just a touch too clean? Carl
  10. Just looked at a 2008 Honda Element so might be switching cars. We'll see. Carl
  11. The cockpit looks good Tony. Wouldn't mind seeing them after a wash too. Adorable pic of your daughter at Bring Your Kids to Work Day. Carl
  12. Gaz, there is a thread on Britmodeler discussing the track colour for German AFVs. The tracks had a high manganese content and therefore would have had a brownish metallic colour to them rather than grey. I've used Tamiya Metallic Grey and added some Hull Red to it to get a suitable look. Carl
  13. Having a hard time getting stuff done. Just when I get all settled in, this guy joins me at the bench and does the same.
  14. Wait, what? That's a crazy swing in weather. I thought that was just a Canadian thing. I think it's Manitoba where they say if you don't like the weather wait 10 minutes. Carl
  15. Time for some city stompin' fun: The Godzilla kit is supposed to close in scale to the Mechagodzilla kit I picked up a year or so ago.
  16. Great progress there Pete, especially on your hands getting back to normal. I keep balking at the Quinta stuff but I'd they come out with one for the F-5F or Mig-29UB I may just have to get one.
  17. Nice! I'm waiting for the 2 seater D version to come out. The 2 seater somehow looks meaner. Carl
  18. Thanks folks! Just a small update today. I noticed that the wing spar was starting to bend at one end and was concerned that it would break. As a result, I decided to glue it to the lower wing section. To further brace it, I started on the gear bay walls. It seems to be ok and I'm no longer worried about it breaking now. The last thing I got done was painting the rad inserts. Hopefully I'll get more done in the next couple days.
  19. Keep going Rob! I'm all for watching you work your magic on this. Carl
  20. The camo looks good there Gaz. If you're covering the whole tank in white wash, does the but of overspray become that critical? Or are you just whitewashing the lower hull? Carl
  21. An incredible amount of detail and very clean building. Carl
  22. Well, it is legal here in Canada.
  23. Very nice work Peter. Glad to hear the feedback on the Look IP as well as the Quinta ones. Might have to try one of them on a future build. Although the Quinta seems a bit pricy. Carl
  24. With the fuselage all closed up, I decided to work on one of the mids made to the actual plane. Being a purpose built land based Corsair, the tailhook was omitted. Also the rear halves of the tail wheel doors was fixed shut. Although not mentioned in the instructions, Tamiya includes a recess on the closed doors to show where to cut them. I made the cut and attached the doors in place along with the rear fairing. Then I used thin sheet styrene to cover the remaining opening. Thankfully I found a pic of it in Dana Bell's book on the Corsair so knew what it looked like. This was then riveted to finish it off.
