After quite a long journey some more goods from Japan arrived at my home.

It seems, I have an Italian phase with car kits at the moment with the re-released Alfa Giulia, a car I always loved and nearly bought one many moons ago. The kit seems to be of decent quality, and even has an engine to show. I may add a set of PE for some further detailing. 



The 1/20 Neuspotter from Wave might be added to my sandbox GB entry. The version, I got is called 40th anniversary edition and since more or less as many years, I wanted to have one, among other of the veneer Nitto kits of MaK subjects.

 



I also got a lot of drill bits for my MFH kits, a new pointed tweezer and Hasegawa Flexible Cutter.



The cutter has a tiny rotating blade, which may be helpful for cutting masks for organic shaped camo patterns.

Rob, I was eyeing that Alfa on Plaza Japan as well. The kit came out

originally in 1997 and went out of production until recently, and I've been Wanting to pick one up, but again, my fear of painting gloss finishes....

I have the same scissors, bought recently after breaking my curved scissors that I had, literally for decades. They  work very well....much better

than my old pair . So, not a bad pick.

Here in North America, the Chevy Vega was known to rust away while in the showroom. No driving required.

My plaza order arrived today with a few items.....

 

First another Maschinen Krieger themed kit.

This time by Wave Coporation, their P.K.A. Ausf.

HO in1/20 scale. (MK-064-4200)

This is my first kit from this maker and I must say I'm impressed by it's

quality. From the packaging, molding, and instructions this kit is first rate!

   I also got a couple more of  Hasegawa's "Egg Girl" resin kits....but, I won't

say much about these .. As , I suspect,  I'm probably the only one on this forum that has any interest in these. I have yet to build one...but will...eventually.

 

 

I also got today my order from Squadron; from Gecko Models an accessory

engine kit in 1/16  for their big Universal Carrier kit released earlier this

year. It's basically a ford Flathead V8 engine that can be installed in the

kit or displayed separately on its own stand. Looks pretty detailed

 

BTW....I plan to purchase only one more kit this Year and then

call it quits. I plan for now restrict my purchases to supplies, tools, accessories, and etc, that is, unless some spectacular model kit is released next year. I have enough for now....We'll

see how that works out. I'm still waiting for that 1/18 Brewster

Paul, nice variety of kits. 

I still remember going into the big comic book shop here in Toronto called Silver Snail. Their entire second floor was models, board games and figures. They had a huge section devoted to the original MaK kits in the brown boxes. I would always look at them and then put them back, being not quite sure what they would be like inside. 

As for the Hasegawa Egg Girls, they're fun and certainly a lot tamer than some stuff you can find out there. Plus if they help Hasegawa have money for other more mainstream kits, so much the better.

Thanks, I wish there were more shops like the one you mentioned. I used

to go to Venture Hobbies in Wheeling Illinois, now sadly gone, where I

could browse for hours. I loved that place! Yes, the Egg Girls are definitely

much tamer than some of the figures I've seen on Hobby link Japan, many

of which are, in my opinion,are pornographic!  The Egg Girls are cute and harmless. My

first one was a gift from a family member and I kind of got hooked. Even my

Mother wants to see one built...I'll get to doing that soon.

I know the feeling, Carl About forty years ago I browsed through "Werken Spielen Schenken", a hobby shop in West berlin as a teen and eying these brown Nitto boxes with photos of the build kit on top. I read, they are multi media and I had only a slight idea, what that meant. Anyway, they were quite expensive by the time and I couldn´t afford it at the time, being a teen with a lot more dubious interests.
The boxes are still light brown and they still feature the carton print card of the subject. Some of the kits seem to be old molds, like the Neuspotter, others, like the Kampfanzüge (battle suits) are newer molds.

We spent last week at the NC shore. There is a nice hobby shop in Jacksonville, NC called Hobby Chest of Jacksonville. I bought this. I'll eventually be hunting information and decals for a Nimitz based aircraft.

And the ladies wanted to go to Hobby Lobby. And Hobby Lobby was having 40% off boxed kits sale, so I bought this, it should be interesting.

I think you're going to like both kits there Dave. 

The Tomcat is hands down the best F-14 kit on the market in any scale. Skunk Models does a nice Nimitz deck in 1/48. I picked one up for my copy of the same kit.

As for the Zeta Gundam, it's a Master Grade kit which means it's going to be one of the more detailed kits that Bandai makes. Lots of parts and articulation. 

It'll be a press fit kit so cement will be optional. Be careful when you test fit parts together as they may not always come apart easily. A couple complaints make a special tool to separate parts on kits like these. 

Since everything is moulded in colour, you can actually get away with not painting anything. 

The last Master Grade kit I built I did paint but with the parts breakdown I didn't need to mask anything.

If you do want to paint it, here's a colour conversion chart to help out. It give Me Color equivalents.

Of course, I've been a bit puzzled as to the fact Qunita hasn't released a cockpit set and for the first time in a very long time, I'll be building a kit without one.

Well, at least you didn’t start building it, filed down the instrument panel and then find out you accidentally ordered the Quinta set for a Trumpeter kit and not the Hasegawa kit on your bench.  🤪

To make matters worse, Hobby Nut hasn’t shipped yet even though they said it was in stock.  I ordered a second off eBay and it arrived last night.  That’s fine because I’m planning on building a P-40K and I’ll need it anyway.  But now I need to buy a Trumpeter P-40E kit to go with my new interior set.  😇

…..Off to shoot an email to Hobby Nut.
