Well, it sounds like a good time to resurrect this thread!

This little bastard went through a repaint before it was done, so I had to strip it all down and start over, all masks and HGW transfers, only decal is the one on the cowl. I finished it the night before IPMS this year, won first in category, and packed up all my modeling stuff for a move across country a few days later.

I never like any of my finished builds.. even in some cases just gave them away. ..All but one one perhaps..Full conversion on Special Hobby F-80 to a Canadair CT-133.  I still like it.

One of my best speed builds. Finished within a week - 1/32 Special Hobby Heinkel He 100D-1:

Back then, I was still building German WW2 stuff. In the meatime, I've mostly dropped out from any WW2-related subjects.

Messered a couple of Schmitts, too. (no speed builds, though)

Best of my feeble attempts. F-15C of the IDF which was done as a dual build with A Syrian Mig-23MF which it shot down over the Beqaa Valley during Operation Mole Cricket 19 in 1982.

Lovely build ... of an ugly airframe :) !

Difficult to imagine the same company later produced the Comet, Dragon Rapide, Albatros or Mosquito ...

Anyway, absolutely great job, Jeroen :thumbsup2:

This caught me flat footed and I had to do some thinking on the subject.  I prefer WW1 subjects these days, but honestly, anything unique is my style.

The one I chose is my FAVORITE build, as it’s the one that really got me back into large scale modeling.   It’s by no means my “best” build, matter of fact, it’s probably close to my worst, but I had piles of fun building it, and it’s the build where I met all these Wisenheimers who claim to be my friends. :)

the infamous “Toilet Bomber” where all sorts of off color jokes flew around and we had gobs of fun.  I look at this build and see the glaring mistakes: alignment, missing arming wires and pins, weathering or lack thereof, shiny wheels, etc, and although I’ve thought of taking a couple days to update and fix it, I choose not to because I can look at it and see how far I’ve come in those years.

You said it best, its all about having fun! Some of my favorites are out of the box, fun with paint and weathering type projects. The Ki84 one was my favorites, because I tried something new and it came out exactly as I imagined it would.

I remember that one from June Mark.  I absolutely loved the weathering and I hope to replicate that someday.

I hope to replicate it too! I’m not sure if it was skill or luck, but I’m leaning heavily toward luck.
