Come on guys, for us old British types, what’s wrong with MPG........yes I know Europe uses the damn litre thingies but I still understand Mpg.............:wallbash:

EXACTLY................ when they changed all our stuff to metric, here in Canada the story was, well England has metric and we are ( were ) part of England , Mother Country and all, so we should conform... yeah right.... this metric thing maybe the way to go and is all well and fine, but when the whole of North America is still inches, feet,  miles, ounces, cups, gallons etc, etc, it can be really painful................. and even the news media still say feet, miles etc in their stories...can be confusing........ in the line of work I was in, I had to become 'bi-lingual, as it were..... I agree, Phil, GALLONS per MILE, is what we all grew up with, BUT once more, some politician making life altering decisions, on my behalf.........................

It's about 56 MPG for my car. The tank is almost 3 Imp. Gallons.   But that's what happens when all you've got is 660cc.

Canada still has a mix of both Metric and Imperial just to make it interesting.

Pierre's government in seventeen got confused by the differences between British and US imperial systems etc...,  That is the official version, but we all know that it happened after they realized, that Martin was born and just in case, if he decides to travel, they switched. .... you know...safety precautions :)

What’s wrong with liters/100 kms ? You guys from the Empire have such weird units, with those multiples and fractions on top.  Soon, one guy will say ‘let’s do a model in 1 inch to 6 feet scale ... or better still 3/8 of an inch to a foot  ‘

Hey hey ....

I'm from Australia ... and although we still do have SOME Imperial measurements here ... We have been happily using decimal measurements for decades!

It interesting to see people’s cars on the thread especially the enormous American types.  I have a car which is much more ‘European’ in style it could be said and would be considered to be very small in countries that are big - America, Canada and Australia.  Large engine capacity and big dimension are important when big distance needs to be covered. The inner city conurbation here in the UK is not a places for those big lads I am afraid.

Yes, I agree, it is very interesting, and as someone from Canada, part of the reason I bought my Tahoe, and yes it is big, and that was part of it, as well as the safety of the truck, with luck I will never have to test it as I LOVE the truck, but should something happen, I think or I feel I'm in as safe a unit as I can be in, I have seen these trucks take one Hell of a hit, and most of the time the occupants come out in pretty good shape, where as some others would have not so..... so that, plus I love the looks of them, and it goes like a bullet and has some really cool options, safety was my first concern.... I have seen too many idiots on the roads over the years I worked on them.................
