The metal work looks very clean for the age. Keep us posted.

The metalwork is the Ace up the Sleeve.  The car looks horrible, because the guy who had it, worked almost 18 years to bring it to this.
The body was on a rotisserie and he had the body dipped and walnut blasted, welded in all new metal where needed, started doing his skim coats of filler to iron it smooth, then dropped dead of a heart attack.  The chassis is completely finished. 245hp 312 Ford redone by Ted Eaton, a world renowned  Y-Block guy, frame and suspension powder coated, I did the trans about 8 years ago.

I put the body back on to move it.

The metalwork is bloody flawless, but I know it looks hideous on the outside because he dropped dead after starting on smoothing the exterior.  You see that bare section of floor? Whe entire car is like that

Gaz, if you look at the pic taken behind the rear facing forward, off to the right, that’s a 57 Continental Mk.ll.  Those cars were hand built and cost 10K in 1956-57, at a time the average car cost 3K.

Basically, a 1950s version Deusenberg, Maybach-Zeppelin, or Bugatti.

Rog, here’s our Bel Air on Friday. I was ready to sell this pile of junk. It made me walk three miles that night. Just up and quit.
Then I realized the gas gauge wasn’t working and I ran it dry!   Ooooooooops!

It runs real well when it has fuel in the tank

Swoon ...

The colour is sweet too :)

These are the times I wish there was a 'heart' icon as well as 'thumbs up' icon in the 'likes' button ... can we actually do that Ern?

Anyway ... out here ... even our more modern rides are becoming classics REALLY fast ... Theres something weird going on here, with the used car market ...

I bought my stock standard 2015 Holden Manual SS Ute in October 2019 ... with 28100 Kms on the clock ... for $34999 - PLUS Gov't charges transfer and licensing ...

Now I could sell the same vehicle (the mods done since bought don't actually add value here really) for about $45000+ with an extra 8-9000Kms done!

Rog :)

Rog, it's not just enthusiast cars or collector cars going up in value. We bought our 2009 Honda Fit (Jazz in some parts of the world) back in 2018 for $4,000 CAD. It had 80,000 km on it at the time. We sold it last month at 111,000km for $5,800.

My '91 Honda Beat I got in 2007 for $7,600. It's now worth around $9-10,000. Not bad for 14 years and 25,000 km later. I certainly wasn't expecting it.

Rog, the used vehicle market is screwy these days.

There was a fire in one of the two factories that make computer chips for newer vehicles. As a result, new trucks are not being delivered to dealers. So the used market is going insane.

I had opened up all the emoticons for reactions last year. I’ll look again to see if more were added as available.

So......................... my old Ford truck, '68 f-250 2whl dr, 390 4 spd, ALL original, NEVER seen snow, and parked since 2005........... have to start her and get her moving as she has to come to the 'new' house.....replaced the points, and condenser, poured a few drops of gas in the carb, and she flashed up like she was running yesterday !! A bit rough at first, but smoothed right out, not bad for 16 year old gas............. I kept putting in fuel stabilizer, every year and the gas till smells fresh and is obviously good... have to loosen the back brakes, got one side done, and will do the other side, maybe tomorrow, and she can be easily moved...... she is very dirty, but nothing a good bath won't cure..... to say I was surprised is an under statement.... and no drips or leaks on the back brakes, so maybe the wheel cylinders are still good.....  maybe...

I finally got the old Mustang to the new place yesterday!   As wall as my old 1990 F-250 that haven’t been driven in probably 2 years.  It’s gonna need some work.  I think the O2 sensor is shot.

On Independence Day, Joy and I were invited to a small invitational car show in downtown Frisco, Tx, so we took the 56 Meteor and the 57 Bel Air and sat in the shade, BSing all afternoon. Then we watched the fireworks and a flyover by some CH-47s.
here’s some random shots, but the quality of vehicles there was absolutely amazing, and yes, that is an untouched original fuel injected 57 Corvette which is probably worth more than I’ll make in my entire life
