But monofilament has to be heat shrunk. Not necessarily Gary. I used monofilament line threaded through brass tube, then looped through the eyelet and back through the tube. It's a close fit and holds alone through friction, when pulled taught. A final drop of CA and everything is fixed and is a strengthening part of the assembly. Cheers Rob 5

Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 this is probably the first one I've seen finished. Well done, Any chance to post few pictures in the finished work section? 5
Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 I think I finally found passable replacement for ModelMaster interior green. AK real colour RC 306 lacquer/ IKN M3 (M)Mitsubishi interior green Please ignore the fresh wash. Just another experiment with tonal modulation 😈 9 2
Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 Thank you Carl. I always like them. Time to fill the ejector pin marks and do some painting. And then there’s Clarence the camel. 8
Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 I had to cut a window for navigator’s compartment after I glued shut ( as per instructions) the one provided in the kit. Well, live and learn. Just a quick coat is flat varnish to hide the uglies and this can all go together, somehow, hopefully 11 2
Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 That is Trumpeter 1/48scale C-47, it has many shortcomings , I believe it was based on Chinese copy of a Soviet Lisunov Li-2, which is a copy of Douglas DC-3/C-47. Overall buildable with some corrections and chunk of money invested into aftermarket as usually. 7
Peterpools Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Smitty Nice build on the Infinity Vampire. same here as this is the first one I've seen built. Any additional photographs would be appreciated. 4
ScottsGT Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 I think I have 3 of the old Monogram C-47 kits in the stash. One is the AC-47. I should get off the internet and get busy building so one day I can get to them. 3 3
Martinnfb Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 Old Monogram is still gem of a kit, basic yet presentable. I will definitely build one. Funny that you mentioned AC-47, because that would be the conversion I would go for. Columbians are still using them own the turboprop configuration, Total overkill, but why not . 10

Would love to see a Puff the Magic Dragon. Italeri is supposed to re-issuing their AC-119 this year. 5 1
Peterpools Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Carl An AC-199, that surely would be nice. 5
rjones Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 OK. Since I'm new here I thought I'd show what I'm working on and what's in my display cases. These are just some iPhone photos so the quality isn't all that great. First up is a Meng Rolls Royce armored car in a Caunter scheme. Weathering is in progress. My second project is Tamiyas 1/48 F-35A. It's a beautifully engineered kit and a lot more interesting subject than I thought it would be. Just getting started on the cockpit. the last three are of my display cabinet. The Sub on top is USS Parche SSN 693. I served aboard her from 1993-97. Most "exciting" tour I had. v/r, Rob 9 3

The USS Parche model (SSN 683 btw, not 693 - a typo) with its strange shape, prompted a quick search from me: interesting story, to say the least, and I understand your « exciting » comment Show us your WIPs Hubert 6 1

That's embarrassing! 🙄 I was the Diving Officer. My job was to reach and maintain ordered depth. The shape of the hull made that quite a challenge at periscope depth. The large flat deck forward of the sail tended to get "sucked up" to the surface. Broaching (breaking the surface )while standing watch as Diving Officer is kind of like farting in church-frowned upon. That's a much younger me far left with the helm/fairwater planesman in the center and the stern planesman on the right. 9 2
BlrwestSiR Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Nice display cabinet and collection of models. Broaching certainly looks cool on film, at least when they jump out of the water. Carl 3
Martinnfb Posted January 24, 2023 Author Posted January 24, 2023 That's so cool, thank you for sharing and thank you for your service Rob Cheers Martin 3

Bomber_County Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Thanks for sharing, the Rolls looks interesting. Looking forward to seeing more…. 3
