Bill_S Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Now that the Kingfisher is done, I've pulled this one out of mothballs. I hope to have this one ready before my club's show in September. 6 2
GazzaS Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Three pilots in 3 scales. The flyboy is 6' 3" in 1/32 scale. The Panzer commander is 5' 6" in 1.35 scale. And the Japanese Zero pilot is 6' and a tiny bit in 1/48 scale. 6 1

Cheers Rob More that some figures are a bit out of scale. I don't imagine there were many FW pilots that tall... and no IJN pilots that tal, either. The tanker... utterly believable. 5

I know what you mean, when I built my 1/48 Mig-31, I was more than a bit surprised by the size difference of different bang seats. They claim ALL to be 1/48 . Left: Eduard borrowed from a SU-27 kit, Middle Quickboost or Aires with pilot and Right: Kit supplied from AMG. I'm still wondering, if the kit seat would have fit under the closed canopy. And then sometimes we fight about millimeters, accuracy wise . Cheers Rob 4 2
BlrwestSiR Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 If you want a really tall pilot, check out the ones included in the HK Mosquito. If I recall, one is tall enough to be a first round draft pick for the NBA. 7
BlrwestSiR Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Found them! Along with an HK Do335 pilot. Man, these guys are giants. The tiny guy on the right is a Tamiya P-51 pilot. 4 4
belugawhaleman Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Still plodding away on my Tamiya Brummbar....got the Assembly work done and sprayed its base coat.. The kit is a pleasure to build. No issues at all. Next will be adding the camouflage colors......It's been a while since I've tried my hand at the German tri-color. I've got to get started somewhere as I have a lot of kits that feature that. Anyway its been a while since I've been able to get back to the bench. 2 1
GazzaS Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Are you a modeller who paints figures? Or a figure painter who builds models. I am definitely the former. I doubt that I will ever devote enough time to figures to make any that will grab anyone's attention. My 190 guy: My Panzer guy: And my chubby Zero Pilot... C'mon Tamiya! WTF? Give that man a pizza! BTW... Before I added paint, I thought that the FW guy might be a dead ringer for HRH King Charles. Too ruddy though, eh? 3 2

Martinnfb Posted June 22, 2023 Author Posted June 22, 2023 Not exactly on my bench, but you get the point. 7 1
Bill_S Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Nothing like a coat of silver to show wandering scribe marks. Filled with Tamiya putty and sanded. Every time I look at it, I see more screw ups. 4 1 1

Bill_S Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 Covid's been kicking my ass; I'm finally on the upswing, but my energy level has been very low. I pulled my Revell mid-wing George out of mothballs and managed to get it rescribed. Once I get some energy, it will be time to pull out the salt. I did also do some work on the landing gear. A mix of Revell and Tamiya parts, all will go into recasts of Hasegawa gear bays. 2 2
Martinnfb Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 Thank you Carl, slowly making my way to the correct shape. 8 1
