Jackster
Hi, am just back off holiday and ordered these for my first ever group build. I was looking for inspiration and found this photo, it was taken in Italy, but I am transplanting to Normandy. I will park the Carrier to the rear of the house. Really looking forward to the build. I just have a few bits to finish on two others and then this is next on the list. Cheers Kev

Jackster
Thanks for the comments guys, getting quite excited to give this a go. Long long time since I built any armour though :-) Cheers Kev
Jackster
Right, about time that a start was made at long last. Here are the sprue shots Thats the Universal Carrier, Here's the 6 Pounder This will be a slow build as I am also doing a 1/48 English Electric Lightning F1 at the same time. Hopefully I will keep on top of updates though. Cheers Kev
Jackster
I can't delete the bottom pic for some reason, any ideas? Cheers Kev
DocRob
1 hour ago, Jackster said: I can't delete the bottom pic for some reason, any ideas? Pictures you load up and don't insert into the thread are automatically placed on the lower part the thread. You have to delete them before you hit the 'Submit Reply' button. Anyway, the sprue shot is missing in the Universal Carrier section, so no harm done Fascinating how few parts Tamiya uses to represent a Universal Carrier. My Riich kit seems to have the parts count times three, not a comfortable thought on such a tiny vehicle. Cheers Rob

Jackster
The gun went together fairly quickly and no real problems. I did have to use the seam tool quite a bit though as a fair few seam lines. The front plate is just dry fit at moment and a lot of the detail parts are to be fitted. I wanted an idea of the size so I can work the base out. It's a bit bigger than I thought it would be, but no worries :-) Next step is to build the carrier to a point where i get an estimate of the size. The diorama may end up with just the gun and crew. Jackster
Just a quick mock up, feel a lot better about the fit now. Both Tamiya kits, yet the gun parts need an awful lot of seam scraping but the carrier appears much less. Positions not concrete as yet. Jackster
After watching a few vids on Youtube, i carried on with a bit more of the diorama. I am learning lots whilst doing it too. Very enjoyable so far. Still lots to do, but it's starting to look like a bombed out building, which is what I'm aming for. Cheers Kev
Jackster
Managed to get this finished just in time for the end of the group build, that fact impresses me :-) Really enjoyed the build, learnt a lot as always. Quite glad to finish though. Need to work on photography next. Cheers Kev 3
GusMac
Nice work Kev. The ruined building looks great - did you scratch build it?
Bomber_County
Kev, great diorama, very very atmospheric. Congratulations
Jackster
Thanks very much guys. @GusMac The house was built from foam card, first time I have used it, very easy to use though. I used a thin smear of Polyfilla to get the texture. Matchsticks and lollipop sticks for the roof with tiles made from Das. First attempt at a dio in over 30 years so quite pleased at how it turned out in the end. Cheers Kev
DocRob
You made it right at the finish line and your dio is looking great. The lifelike atmosphere and the ruined house are exceptional, congratulations. Cheers Rob
GusMac
I'd say that's pretty impressive for a first try in 30 years! The polyfilla effect for the render works great.
