1to1scale Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 Came out good after primer, I rescribed all the lines, re-riveted some areas, and got everything masked, I sprayed the first layer down. This will be what shows through the chipping, so I wanted a very dull looking silver. 8
Jeff Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Is that your 're-riveting' work up close????? HOLY, that is awesome ! 2
1to1scale Posted February 14, 2020 Author Posted February 14, 2020 First time using Alclad’s Klear Gloss. It was unusual it smelled like mineral spirit based, but mixed great with lacquer thinner, also cleaned up easy. 1 1
GazzaS Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Whoa, this looks awesome! And Eddie looks bad-ass in situ! 2
Bomber_County Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Looks great, your re riveting is flawless, congrats 2

1to1scale Posted February 18, 2020 Author Posted February 18, 2020 I realize the rounded placement is not correct, but it’s the only way to get them and the words to fit without cutting either, and it’s what the guy I’m building this for wants. 4 1
GusMac Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 Lovely. Like the kill markings as all the Eddies from the albums up to that one - nice touch. 1 1

1to1scale Posted February 22, 2020 Author Posted February 22, 2020 I had a near disaster at the end, and I have finally learned my lesson! Never use a water based wash if you used chipping fluid. Even under multiple coats of clear lacquer, the water can still activate the fluid. However, I was able to put an additional coat of lacquer (3 coats) and all is hidden. This happened to me 3 times now. You would think I would learn.... Testors spray can Dullcoat to the rescue. 40 years later and the stuff is still awesome, but, damn that stuff gives me a headache! 3

It's funny to take in the art work here, from the 78' pinto rust barnacle to the shell casing that somehow left the barrel of the gun intact. Of course none of that I noticed as a young lad, I didn't even like Iron Maiden...just bought it for the Spitfire imagery. Are you also going to do the scraping of the iron maiden letters in the imagery in the bottom left of the canopy frame right side of the aircraft also the bullet hole through the goggles and a skull on Eddie left side Temple 2
1to1scale Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 No changes, I have finished this build and it has moved on to its new owner. 3
