  1. Nicely spotted or googled Martin, they caught me wrongfooted, claiming it as a Yak-3. Can't trust anybody these days . Yakovlev Yak-3U | Planes of Fame Air Museum
  2. Some international collaboration enabled this little black thingy to jump my stash and my soon to build list, after my successful novice affair with the Ford GT, lately. The kit is from Spain, the PE-set, which I consider a must, not the least, because of the included seat belts made from fabric is from the US and the decals are from TBDecals from Italy. They include the Tamiya banned tobacco logos and also important the Goodyear decals for the tires. Cheers Rob
  3. You are breezing through this build Peter and she will be a beauty. I really like the detailing and decaling in the cockpit, as I'm a little fed up with the boring flat look of Eduards printed and often pixeled PE. I use some good brushes too for detail painting and it pays. They hold their shape much better, than cheap ones and are way more durable. I haven't gone 'master class' like you, but will do so soon with the brushes. Cheers Rob
  4. Interesting camo scheme, with the tape on Gaz . Keep 'em comin to put it Peteresque. Cheers Rob
  5. Nice start on that tractor, Bill. I'm still thinking about buying one, because I really like the heavy machinery look of the Skyraider. I think, have some more pics, than the attached one, if you are interested. It was taken on deck of USS-Midway in San Diego some years ago. Cheers Rob
  6. Nice job on the engines Mark, do you plan to display them, after all the work you put in? Cheers Rob
  7. A definite wow Gus, the only prob with that scheme is, that the other planes in your display shelf will turn invisible. Cheers Rob
  8. Thank you John, the Hellcat project was mostly pure fun. Completely relaxing and satisfying, as it should be. Cheers Rob
  9. Thank you Mike, that Royal Class boxing is a treat. I may could bring me to build another one in FAA livery. I've seen an original cat mouth Hellcat in Chino California and had some pics of the real thing to help me. If you plan to use the HGW wet transfers, be sure, that you have a perfectly glossed base layer under them. I ran into deep troubles with them, maybe caused by cutting the transfers, because of the openable cowlings and maybe it was caused by the curved shape of the cowls. Everything looked good, until I very carefully lifted the carrier film. I wish you luck with yours and would be delighted, if you share your experiences. Cheers Rob
  10. De nada, it's a PDF-file, you can save it to your disk if you want, no need for screenshots. Cheers Rob
  11. Do you know this Gaz? Bez názvu - 1 (eduard.com) Cheers Rob
  12. Bummer Phil, before you trash it, you should check the four little connectors on the back of the cartridge. Sometimes they are corroded or a wire came loose. There is also the possibility that you didn't connect the ground cable, if there is one, but maybe you have only adjust the cartridge/stylus correct, to get it playing cleanly. It's always good to analyze step by step, where the prob arises with turntables. Could be your pre-amp as well, if it wasn't used for a deck in 23 years. Cheers Rob
  13. Some contraband made it to my Treasure Island. I feel like a smuggler with his recently looted whiskey barrels . With another shop, I placed an order fot some large bottles of mineral spirit in the form of thinner and hope, that it will get through the blockade. My hopes are not high, but if it goes through, I will have thinner for at least two years. Cheers Rob
  14. They do, Peter, at least this one for now. Tamiya 12042 1/12 Martini Brabham BT44B 1975 / Tamiya USA Cheers Rob
  15. Thank you Peter, the quality of the kit made it easy to concentrate on the painting thing, and I'm pleased with my rookie output. Cheers Rob
  16. I like the idea of putting tinted clears over a metallic base. Is it difficult to get a consistent tone over the full body, spraying the clear read. I can imagine that even the least bit of different thickness in the clear coat will lead to tonal differences. Cheers Rob
  17. No real Ford Gt's to raid on my island, the Lacquer paint drought still is an issue, at least concerning Mica Blue . Cheers Rob
  18. Great body painting, if only the Ford GT designers would've known that their blue is the same Subaru uses . Cheers Rob
  19. Nice topic Gaz, I like these open topped tank hunters. It's maybe to late for that, but with my Ford GT build the manual asks for cutting the poly caps on sided, to slid the wheel onto the axle more easily. Might have been an option for your plastic caps. Cheers Rob
  20. Very nice and I'm eager to see your progress, as I have the same kit with some extras in my stash and like to start it in not a not too far future . Cheers Rob
  21. Funky scheme, Kai and you made it to perfection. Cheers Rob
  22. I want to build one of the Blade Runner Spinner cars, but have to get hold on one I've seen the movie lately. It was not the same as in the eighties, when it came out, but entertaining nonetheless. I sometimes wish, I could see movies like that with my naive eyes of the eighties again. What an experience it was to see Blade Runner on premier weekend on 70mm film wide screened, without having read critiques in the internet before and been totally blasted. The same goes for Alien and Aliens with common sweating and fearing in a dark cinema. I was totally fascinated by the scene, where Decker magnified a photo wit his computer. That was the future 🚀. Cheers Rob
  23. I don't know, I'm not an expert, but seeing pictures it seams the yellow tips have been added only to several restored Yak's. I couldn't spot them on random historic pictures. But sometimes, yellow appears very blackish on old B&W film, especially with the often used yellow or red filters. Cheers Rob
  24. There is some truth to it, on the other hand, I never used three different polishing compounds with the appropriate cloth, along some finishing wax on let's say a T-34 . The Ford thing can't fly, but it's faster than some things, which does. Cheers Rob
  25. Obrigado Hubert, the orange applications are a bit prominent indeed, I could've gone for black or snowy white, which resembles what the designers were sniffing . Thanks Mark, I learned a lot from you, during that build and could call my next car build 'The Fast and the Apprentice . Thank you Gaz, is there such a thing as creditable photographing? I will try to get better outside shots with a less intense sunlight nearer to sunset. Bring it on Karl, just a bit of polish and gloss coat, If I can do it you can for sure, brothers in color . Is it a Subaru? If so, it will look gorgeous with the golden wheels. Thanks Harv, it was an experiment, which turned out great. Dankeschön Kai, the Ford GT kind of kickassed my ambitions to build more cars in the future, even a motorbike is in vicinity. Cheers Rob
