    I'll be interested to see what this turns into. I was in a USMC F4 squadron for a few months, but have never had more than a casual interest in Phantoms. I even built a 1/72 scale kit of one back in the 80's. But I couldn't definitively tell one variant from another.

    Phil, Thank you for replying. Yes, there are a lot of sprues and a lot of parts. Even tiny wingnuts! The only III's I've built are from the Dragon Imperial line which I think are re-pops from another company. Always glad to have you around, Harv! Thanks for the interest, Carl. The Pz III is my favorite despite it's usually puny armament. Just love the way it looks. Always happy to see your Forest... errr, Martin.

    I have always felt that Dragon kits were special. I love the detail and plastic quality. And this one was a gift from my daughter. I've already cleaned and painted the rubber on the road wheels and return rollers. Starting on the suspension and nicely detailed hull tub, I've found that the suspension can be made to be active. All I have to do is cut off these locator pegs... A pleasant surprise was to find an added piece of directions for the interior. I generally don't do interiors. The last Pz.III I built didn't have much interior, so I hid the interior with crew members posed in the hatches. But on this one, I might have to place some crew on the outside. Anyway... lots of parts, lots of choices, and lots of stuff to try to avoid ruining. Thanks for looking! Gaz

    Hi Rob, I didn't realize you had this one going. Love the dinged floats and the IP. Your work on the wood grain is exemplary. I will remember to look in on this and watch your progress. I have this kit, too but am not overly in love with it due to the limited marking options. I'm still hoping to find that rare photo that will inspire me to build it. GAz

    This tank is an amalgam of two tanks. Red 414 with oversized crosses, and Jager... I didn't try my hardest to get the font correct... but no Umlauts.

    Today was spent mostly with oils. Pin washing and dry brushing. I tried something new here. Instead of a universal pin wash in one color, I used a different color pin wash for each paint color. My wish is that sometimes you see a panel line, and sometimes you don't. Or, sometimes the panel line teases your eye... is it there, or isn't it? I hope it turns out visually interesting.

    When I complain about the umpteenth rendition of Robin Hood on film... or any other movie I saw 20-40 years ago (my wife tells me) is that they aren't making the movie for me. They are making it for the younger folks who haven't seen it yet. Likewise, while you have been staring at 1/32 scale 109's your entire adult life, I went for 35 years without touching a model. So, any new 109 is a replacement for the ones I wasn't able to build during that time. I still haven't built the latest Revell G6 nor g10. Or the Hasegawa G6 though all three have recently come into my possession. Meanwhile, how many Corsairs has Tamiya sold? I think people should start saying "like we need another Corsair".

    The rub of the whole situation is that larger scale kits have a lot more smaller parts than you'll find in most 1/48 scale kits.

    Not a big deal. You just won't find everything in your chosen scale.

    My wife has a motorcycle. Except for aesthetic appreciation, I have no real interest in a two wheeled suicide machine. Seen plenty of young people killed on them, fellow Marines, Speedsters on crotch rockets, and once, even a woman in a wedding dress along with her freshly departed groom. I know that if I used one for transportation to work, my impatience would get me killed. Maybe it would be nice for weekend joy rides. But I don't do joy rides.
