  1. I wanted to do the Revell 1/48 B-1B in a similar display except with cruise missiles coming out of the bomb bay. Never got around to it.
  2. Martin, I guess Kotare have taken "shake and bake" kit building to a whole new level. Leave the cement and paint close to the box and this is what happens automatically.
  3. Wait, whaaa? But you just started the kit. It hasn't caused you to burn out yet and set it aside? Did you get a different ZM kit than I did?
  4. Great review Ernie. My kit arrived earlier this week and I have to agree with everything you said. Carl
  5. Here's the cockpit. https://www.buchonscalemodels.com/products/1-24-spitfire-resin-cockpit-internal And the nose conversion https://www.buchonscalemodels.com/categories/124-scale Might be cheaper to just get the new kit if you're doing a IX.
  6. No cat this time so I got a bit more done. I decided it was maybe time to make sure things fit so I taped up the front fuselage and checked the fit of the cockpit. The resin tubs needed some sanding off the bottom and then they were ok. I then started adding details to the rear tub courtesy of an Eduard PE set I found in the box. It's mostly placards but does contain the breakers.
  7. Amazing work on all that PE. At least most of the pieces on the Vosper are a bit bigger so easier to handle.
  8. Bouchon Scale Models does some for the older Airfix kit. https://www.buchonscalemodels.com/ The E wing conversion might work with the new kit but I haven't seen anyone try yet.
  9. How about a V'ger diorama?
  10. Nice start on your Tomcat Scott. The only time I've tried grafting the landing gear from one kit into another was interestingly, the Tamiya Spitfire gear into the Revell Spitfire 22 kit. Quite the improvement like you've achieved here.
  11. You're really getting through this build John. Looks great and it seems like you avoided some of the issues I had.
  12. Tried to work on the seats but had an interloper request time for petting. I did manage to make progress on one of them.
  13. More progress on the Tomcat albeit only a little. I painted the buttons and whatnot on the RIO cockpit and started on the pilot's I did a base coat on the seats but noticed one is broken and missing a bit. I'll see if I can find something suitable to fix it.
  14. Thanks Gary! I think it's up there with seam filling for me. Phil, living near the largest park in the city, there's lots of squirrels around. Our dog Jimmy lives to chase them too. If you get the chance to watch the film, the in-flight sequences are great. The Tomcats are the star of the show but you get to see the other planes that made up a carrier air wing from the late '70s, early '80s. There's also great footage of an A-7 hitting the barriers.
  15. With Andrei's penchant for conversions, hopefully he'll consider an F2G Super Corsair. It would fit in nicely with the Cavalier Mustang and the Enforcer.
  16. Peter, it was my pleasure to help you out. Easy enough on my end and I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss out.
  17. Just met the post woman at the door and got a package from New Zealand. One is for @Peterpools as soon as I can get to the post office, hopefully tomorrow.
  18. Harv, it's a great place to visit. They're restoring a Bollingbrook and Spitfire. The Lanc is opened up for service getting it ready for the flying season. They have the Canso and Dakota and a couple Harvard's I think.
  19. Harv, it was a lot of fun. It's great having the show surrounded by aircraft. I sent one pic to Martin and he saw that the museum's Dakota was in the background and asked for some pics of it. Easy enough to oblige when there's no ropes around them and you can basically just walk around and underneath the plane. Here's my sons standing in front of it. I was hoping to get pics of their Canso for Chris but they had it in the center of the vendor section surrounded by tables.
  20. Naval stuff: 1/200 Arizona I was curious about the model on the right so here's the entry card: Another 1/200 ship but this time the Yamato. Lastly, another Arizona build, just a different presentation. There were lots more models but it was too busy later on to get pics of them ,much less see them all as the crowds filled in. One section I missed was the Junior section. What was on display there would give us hope that the hobby won't die off with our generation. Overall I have to say it was a great success. Can't wait until next year.
  21. Space and sci-fi: I think some of the colours might be a bit off but an imposing model nonetheless. Stunning cutaway of the shuttle orbiter. Mostly scratch built.
  22. Just got from this year's show at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. This year the show was absolutely packed. The contest tables were initially a bit bare looking when we got there but by the afternoon were fairly full. Lots of vendors were there too. Here are some pics from the contest tables. I think this was done by someone on LSP. Can't believe it was 1/144
  23. Our oldest son is a ship modeler so that was his focus. I also got a book on the Snowbirds and some Tamiya paint which was 3 for $5 so why not.
  24. Just got back from the Heritagecon show. The show was packed. Shortly after arrived they had to open overflow parking for visitors. Lots of deals on Border Lanc kits. Seemed every shop had at least a couple to sell. $800 CAD ( about $580 USD) tax in was the best I saw. 1/200 Arizona was $200 CAD and the same scale Bismarck was $300 CAD. Debated the last one until someone else saved me the divorce and bought it. I didn't come away empty handed though. My sons both came along and picked up some stuff too. Edward got a giant goldfish. No, that's not a typo. In the time it's taken me to write this, he's already built it.
