"Pasture" F4U-4 finished

Recommended Posts

I have long been fascinated by a/c that have been "put out to pasture" such as this F4U-4. I decided to embark on this build using a Trumpeter kit but with "enhancements" using some Tamiya parts (wing fold mechanism, wheels and gear doors). I've included photos of the "real" a/c to show it in various stages of disrepair. I wanted to depict the a/c at one point in time before it had deteriorated far and before it was saved and restored. Painted with Tamiya acrylics, Mr. Hobby acrylics and MM enamels. ALL markings are from my decal stash with some re-scaled using my computer and printer plus I tried to depict the red in the national insignia as very sun faded. I hope you like the results of my efforts! :)

I personally think, that is the Best one you have done yet.... and that goes a way as you have done some real beauties... this one tops them..

LOL Thanks again Jeff! I'm happy you feel that way! It should look good next to my other Corsairs. :)

John

What a gorgeous and unique build - different and colorful. The attached photographs show how well you replicated the actual weather-beaten Corsair put out to pasture. Awesome work and just goes to show how taking a different approach to the subject can yield spectacular results. 🏆

I've often read that the Trumpeter F4U-4 is "unbuildable", you have proven the nay-sayers wrong John.  Love it!

Thanks Frank! They just don't have the right know how or incentives to build it. It DOES need some extra effort if you are willing to do it. LOL I'm glad you like it. :)

Oh man!  Yes, another. Orsair, but this one with a twist!

John, I absolutely, 100% LOVE the result here!  Stunning build!

Thanks Ernie! I'm glad you like it! Something a little different this time. :) I've considered doing another one in GSB that was at the same location but we will see. :)
