So having proposed avoiding Quinta due to their Russian owners , and suggesting Yahu instead, I felt obliged to flash out some of my own cash for a Yahu product to have a look at .

This 3D printed pre made stuff is not my personal idea of modelling , and having stated this I get that lots of people think its a great idea, so no need to go round the roundabout on that debate. Each to their own . 😀

So straight from Poland a 1/48 IP for Tamiya's Mossie . I look forward to using it later this year , you never know I might even be won around to the idea that this is the way to go ....resin ejector seats seem to have worked their way more into my builds of late.

Reskit has a line just getting started, and I buy Red Fox stuff.

Being honest .......I didn't open it up and think "OMG thats the best thing ever ....." I think the bright colours make it all a bit "toy", but maybe when it's in place more, it will come into it's own ? I don't normally loose sleep over IPs.

TBH I feel lotsa work put into cockpits is often wasted, rarely seen once the aircraft is finished, but again just my opinion...bear in mind I am way more an armour meddler ...

I (not) used some of the Yahu IP's and most of them were great, much better printed than Eduard. Exceptions were the IP's for the 1/32 Tamiya F4U and 1/32 Dauntless, which got yellow dials printed on, which is wrong. I used the modified kit parts instead, with the Tamiya Corsair.
Your Mossie panel looks very  good on first sight.

Cheers Rob

Hey guys

I received this from Andy about two weeks ago. I plan on doing a build on this, probably after I finish the 1/16 Panzer iv ausf h.

I've been wanting this big kit for some time....It's the big M4A3E8 "Easy Eight" Sherman

from Andy's Hobby Headquarters in 1/16 scale. This thing is Huge! The turret on this thing is as large as an entire Sherman in 1/35. Should be fun! I've test fitted the turret

halves, as you can see in my picture, and the fit is excellent. There's a figure included,

but I haven't dug it out of the box yet....It looks good in the reviews. These kits are apparently made by Takom for Andy...so it should go together well. Anyway, looking

forward to building this beast!

Surprisingly, the parts count (excluding the tracks) is not that large.....like an up-sized

1/35 kit. There is some detail I've never seen on an Easy Eight......I never knew, for instance, that these tanks had a pair of rear view mirrors....these are included on this kit.

Most photos show that they were removed. Anyway, it's a good thing I have a lot of

Tamiya olive drab. I'm concerned that some parts may be made from ABS......meaning

Extra thin might not be enough. Anyway, I Emailed Andy's Hobby Headquarters to see

if this is the case. Update: from the manufacturer.... All styrene.

It is styrene plastic, just like the tiger vi I have. It does have some odd issues like early type all metal tracks with the late turret. I wish Andy would have done a M4A3 hvss 76 (w) instead, it would be more like what was actually used during WW2. The easy 8 didn't really show up till the US got into Germany towards the end of the war.

The tanks marking options are from the time after the time US got into Germany ,at least

the marking options included shown on the box. The Tamiya European theater

Easy eight also includes the T66 tracks. Adopted dec. 1944 .Thanks for the heads up about the kit being

made from styrene BTW........I heard about some parts being made of ABS from

a goofy You Tuber I'm glad its not true.

This arrived in yesterday's mail.

DSCN3105-1.jpg

I picked up this at the hardware store today. The Hasegawa V'ger has a multi-part PE boom that will need to be soldered. Two parts, and a 120 degree twist. I don't trust CA to hold up to that.

WIP please. I have several Trumpy T34 1/16 kits and I'd love to see some PE soldering.

Those Tamiya 1/32 aircraft kits are very tempting......my fear is screwing one up!

I'd love to build their early A6m2.....cool that! But a NMF mustang! Oh, jeez how cool would that be!

Thanks Martin, perhaps ICM May release a a 210 or 410, they would do it well.

Looking through their catalog, there are a plethora of He, Ju and Do twins but no Me………bizarre……..

The Meng kit is a solid kit, actually they offer three versions of the 410. I haven't build mine yet, but it looks good on the sprues and I read many favorable build threads about it. There are a few known issues, like the shape of the spinners and props and others, but no game changer to my eye. Why should ICM compete with this, Phil?

Cheers Rob
