Yes, it's the 1/32 kit.

A great kit ... markings are of a great but relatively unknown pilot - compared to a lot of his peers ... Was the top scoring ace in 1943 before being pulled out of frontline service and shoved onto the propaganda train! Reinstated to service when things got more desperate in the home defence later in the war and was one of the main contributors to the development of Me.262 deployment and aerial tactics.

A couple of boxes arrived today ...

IMG_9139.thumb.jpeg.04c8c9d3abdc086e430c1c0bb9326bcb.jpeg

The longer one while damaged, was packed enough with this blue thick bubblewrap, that nothing inside was damaged though - not even a Revell box!!

IMG_9140.thumb.jpeg.74fdc3d182a177c60e2168e48e76dbde.jpeg

Finally my Gecko Models Pz.Kpfw II Ausf.F arrived ... I haven't checked if it has a metal barrel yet - but if it doesn't, I'll have to acquire one!

IMG_9141.thumb.jpeg.be25d49f8101f3aee22a3e8d084b50b4.jpeg

I've been waiting a while for this kit to show up at the local HS - we could do with more soviet developed WWII aircraft.

IMG_9142.thumb.jpeg.b44be5fc93f2934c94d601ac71f5e8a2.jpeg

I wasn't going to bother with this kit initially ... since I have a couple of Fly's Mk.II's ... but I was intrigued to hear that Revell had put this one together well for a change ... so I took the punt ...

IMG_9143.thumb.jpeg.b4513196a317a2210b8601798d18892c.jpeg

I have a couple of FlaK 88's already but you can never have enough of one of (if not) the most versatile (and powerful) artillery pieces of the war. Plus there's the collectors "biscuit tin" which is a bonus :D

IMG_9145.thumb.jpeg.5cccd72ee8b0eed4cbcf05233e4f277d.jpeg

Ever since the announcement was made, I knew I was going to get this kit ... Who doesn't love a big kitty?? I especially like the early type with the air filters on the back.

IMG_9146.thumb.jpeg.8072cc9cc44f9f93a3e3b5ba258b548a.jpeg

This is the weirdest boxing of a kit I've had for quite some time ... The sides are bigger dimensionally, than the top ...

IMG_9148.thumb.jpeg.4f6606847bf9257d823dae0ae0d65674.jpeg

I was concerned that Wittmann's tiger might be the only option here, but there's a Kursk 505th unit in the descriptor for available markings :D

IMG_9147.thumb.jpeg.19818e7f4d14ffb33749b16d8a0a7c5d.jpeg

I have a Das Werk Pz.Kpfw III Ausf.J ... which only comes with a metal barrel for the shorter 50mm option ... So this gives me one for the L60 - and when I can finally get a hold of the 2 kits from Heller / Monochrome / Gallery - I'll have the other barrels ready to go here!

IMG_9149.thumb.jpeg.26877b53e7370d15d3c789f618c71dde.jpeg

Finally, I've been looking forward to getting one of these for a while ... I wanted the large, clear plastic one but this will do the job ...

IMG_9150.thumb.jpeg.9ab565f900f19fef48bfa684692c30ca.jpeg

Will a large enough frame for LSP twins!

The decals are yellowed, so won't be used.  I might put them out in the sun to get the yellow out of the stencils.  But I won't put much trust in the larger decals.  I wouldn't call Nowatny a relatively unknown pilot.  Pretty famous to students of the Luftwaffe.  He had 258 confirmed kills though most were on the Eastern Front.

These came today:

From ABER ; their 16 L-01 U.S. cal .30 barrel for machine gun Browning M-1919 A4

in 1/16 scale. I'm going to use this on the Andy's Hobby Headquarters 1/16 Sherman

I got recently.

Another item is this paint masking pen from Molotow. Never tried one of these before.....this one has the 2mm tip and is refillable.

Last, but by no means least, is this 1/16 scale 1/4 ton 4x4 G503 MB utility truck by

Takom. I had been thinking about getting this one for some time....and finally got

one. Although in 1/16 scale it's not a big model. It's got lots of detail though....A complete engine, detailed chassis, and a well detailed .50 Browning M2. A figure is

also included. It looks like a fun kit....and it should make a cool companion piece

to the big "Easy Eight"

lol Gaz ... I meant relatively unknown to the rest of the world - when compared to Galland, Hartman, Rall, Marseille etc ... of course he would have been a virtual superstar in the Luftwaffe! (which was why he was Mr.Propaganda for a season). Another favourite subject of mine is Heinz Bär ... I'd never heard of him (or Nowotny) until these 'Named' Hasegawa kits came out for sale online and I started to do more research into the subject matter.

This came today; from BNA, in Australia..... Great people btw. Just a few days in

transit...impressive.... But a week in Customs in Chicago....and a day later after

a delivery "attempt" by USPS.....no big deal a 10 minute round trip to the post office in

Waukegan. By Takom, it's their WW 1 Heavy Tank MK V (2034) 3 in 1.

This kit can be built as Male, Female, or "hermaphrodite" configurations. Pretty

cool. Lots of marking options; including a checker board option that would result in

my opinion...in total mental collapse.  A cool kit!

It's amazing how fast an order from BNA can arrive halfway across the world and yet something 45min away can take days to go 60km.

I would not dub this remark as a political one, Ron.

It’s just a common (economic) sense remark, based on personal experience.

Eduard products are made in Czech Republic, and if, as an European, I buy from them, I will pay VAT, alright. But, historically, I have paid Eduard items, shipped by BNA from Australia, for less than if I had ordered them from Eduard in CZ. Knowing that, on top, these items were initially shipped from CZ to AUS, it does not make any sense for me, not to mention the  - politically correct ;) - disastrous carbon balance of an item travelling 35 000 kms when it was produced 2 500 kms from home …

Yeah we're pretty cheap over here now 🤣🤣🤣

Its just that, the once - most reliable postal service in the world - is now the most unreliable.

I finally broke down and picked up a set of RP Toolz punches. Martin whispered in my ear that I should. Or was that just my inner voice?

A suprise purchase and gift from Mom today!

After looking at the model kits on display at Ace Hardware I was suprised to see

this in her cart when we met after check out. I was very thankful.....

Anyway, its Tamiya's Lockheed P-38 F/G Lightning (61120). In 1/48.

I've been tempted by this kit for some time......heard good things about it. I'm a big

fan of the P-38....especially the ones with the early style cowls. A cool day for me and

Mom. We had lunch together afterwards.

The two nearest Ace Hardware stores sell Tamiya kits in their "hobby" section

along with Mission Models paint, Tamiya paint( acrylic and lacquer in spray cans) and Revell enamel paint....I'm pretty sure this is the case in most Ace hardware stores.
