Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 10, 2018 Administrators Share Posted December 10, 2018 A little side project! My father in law owns and rides a Harley WLA. He competes in the Liege - Nancy - Liege Rally every single year. A classic bike challenge. This year his bike broke down and for the first time he wasn't able to finish. So this is my gift of comfort to him. I'm using the Miniart kit.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 10, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted December 10, 2018 First snippets. Really liking the detail. The wheels are made up from three layers. Spokes are PE.

DocRob
Nice idea and subject, Jeroen. Some years ago I built a MiniArt bicycle for my wife, because she owned one of those classics. It was not an easy built, with a lot of tiny PE-parts, like chain, pedals and wheels, but she liked it a lot. I'm sure your father in law will like your effort too. Peterpools
Jeroen Awesome theme for a build and a great present awaits. Always fun and enjoyable to follow different venues of modeling Keep 'em comin Peter
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 17, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted December 17, 2018 This kit is quite challenging. The frame seemed to be warped. The rear axle didnt fit the wheel. So i made a new axle and now the wheel can even spin. The detail is amazing, but some parts just have a mind of their own.

DocRob
These two wheeled MINIatures can be challenging in times, but hey you're a master modeller, so I'm quite confident you will master that . Cheers Rob P.S. I know the feeling

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted December 24, 2018 Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2018 Looking awesome Jeroen! As for the real WLA, what a machine! I never rode a WLA, but I had a WLC for a couple years, (same bike but a heavier front end), and it’s true what they say, “a 45 does 45”. LOL. You just could’t Stop those old things. Spark, oil, and fuel, and they’d run.
BlrwestSiR
Just saw this Jeroen, and what a fantastic build. Those Miniart kits definitely have a lot of small parts to them. Carl
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 24, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted December 24, 2018 Hi guys! Found a better glass dome. Also found a ww2 map with US markings. The place where my father in law broke down was not on the map (Rendeux) but i found the location and added it myself with letters from other places. I will add a layer of plexiglass to sandwich the lot.
GusMac
Very cool Jeroen. Just realised when I saw your map that I've driven through there on the way to Bastogne for the cycling.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 27, 2018 Author Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2018 So i cut a piece of plexi glass to size and made it perfect round on the lathe. Made a sunken screw recess in the middle. Sandwiched the map. Bike is progressing too. Some lovely details on it...

Wingco57
Very nice Jeroen, you are going to paint that all while the model is in one piece? Must be difficult to get the details painted on the engine?
