Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 27, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted January 27, 2019 Had some trouble closing the main body. One side was a bit out of shape and needed some force to get in line. started adding oil canning to the body and wings. This can clearly be seen in a lot of photos. Not caused by air pressure ofcourse but by the internal frame and probably poor aluminium work. This will take some work....
GazzaS
I always wonder about oil-canning and the end of the Reich. How long did things like Me-262's and V-2's sit baking in the sun before they were photographed? We all know about expansion and contraction. I just wonder how much is construction related. Keep up the good work! Gaz
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 27, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted January 27, 2019 This is the one displayed at Trafalgar Square. But you also see it on a lot of operational pics. A very distorted overall skin.

npb748r
thanks for sharing the build, it's inspired me to get this kit, I did think about getting the V1 kit to sit alongside it. The V1 has a personal interest for me as one of them landed on my dad's home in 44 (he was serving as a rear gunner on the halifax in 298 squadron at the time) and the V1 landed a few weeks after my nan had just been informed her other son had died on HMS Mourne.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 3, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted February 3, 2019 Bought a Reedoak boy figure today to stand at the base of the v2 to demonstrate the size. beautiful stuff. Also bought a wooden square base.
Wingco57
You are right Jeroen, compared to that figure the rocket is huge. Cees
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 4, 2019 Author Administrators Share Posted February 4, 2019 I wasnt happy with the boy looking straight forward. He needs to look up at the rocket. So i chopped off his head, cleaned up the jawline. Drilled holes, inserted rod. Now to remodel the flesh. also almost finished one door. Only needs clasps and hinges and rivets.
