1:32nd scale Mosca-Bystritsky MB bis fighter
HubertB replied to sandbagger's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Amazing ! Can I ask a question, because it’s one I can’t find an answer anywhere. What diameter are the Gaspatch wheels ? I am looking for this type of wire wheels for a project I have. Thanks in advance. Hubert -
Fantastic ! Hubert

And what a journey it’s been ! Thanks for taking us along the ride : far more impressive than any other high-end attraction. And I have already taken my seat for the next round Hubert

a D out of a G.... HK's B-17 conversion
HubertB replied to brahman104's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Good to see you sharing your outstanding work over here, Craig. A real inspiration to see you striving, again and again, for perfection ! One of my darkest fantasies is to do a 307 Stratoliner in 1/32, using whatever could be used from the HK kit (I bought some mixed sprues from an F and a G for that, and even a partially completed ID model vac. Unfortunately, it seems that the amount of rework for any of these is just too hard a pill to swallow ) Keep it coming Hubert- 167 replies

Ford GT II - The Fast and the Novice - Tamiya 1/24
HubertB replied to DocRob's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
When Alien was released in France, it was advertised for two months before in all French stations ( I was working on night trains for a summer job). Needless to say I went to the premiere, on September 8th 1979, in the Grand Rex in Paris (with a 2 800 seats capacity and a 70 mm screen). I can still hear the screams of the audience at the end of the scene, filmed in subjective vision, when the guy leans over the egg that just opened, and the beast jumps at his face, and the screen becomes black. Yes, you can say I was impressed Hubert -

Gotta say that the good point of car modelling is that you can save A LOT of money on weathering products (assuming you have access to lacquers, isn’t it Rob ) ! The only issue is cars don’t fly (mostly) … Hubert -

Gorgeous Rob (although I am still struggling with the orange trim inside, wtf were the designers sniffing ? ) ! Hubert -

Impressive as usual, Mike. Can we now say that the existence of a resin kit prompted you to scratchbuild a 1/32 version of this bird ? Hubert -
WOT ? No windows ? Now that spoils everything ! I could not keep an unfinished model. Bin it, or better still, send it to me, so that I can pose as a real (as opposed to wannabe) model builder with visiting friends. Hubert

Ah yes, I remember this one. That would be a great (anachronistic) companion for the Titanic Hubert

That reminds me that I still have « hidden » somewhere in the stash the venerable 1/245 kit by HAWK/AMT, of the Graf Zeppelin Hubert

Let’s look at it rationally : a stash of piled boxes in the attic takes a lot less space than shelves with the same number of finished models in the living room. Now that’s an argument that any woman who cares for her interior should hear gladly, and even, dare I say, with relish … Well, at least, I tried Hubert

Being serious a second, domestic cats kill hundreds of millions of wild birds every year. Add the liberal use of pesticides that’s also killing them, and we are soon going to have a problem (my cats’ score this spring is about 9 birds, of which I saved about 4, or at least I released them alive … One cat has found out that the bathtub is a convenient place to play with a bird: it has only a vertical escape route, and it’s so much fun to catch it in flight. Sorry for the thread hijack, Peter. The T-6 is a pet subject of mine, and I had it as a resin project before Glen Coleman told me of KH plans. Finding one's way among the different variants, and the differences between them, is not the easiest task (still easier than the B-24, but I am not sure that is a good comparison ). Let's say KH did not conduct their research as thoroughly and exhaustively as they could have done (but then, maybe they would still be waiting to dot the final "i" and cross the final "t" before commiting to design). In short, the T-6 kit is accurate for only one version, wich is the warbird on which they based their design, i.e. "Deb". But then the owners of "Deb" were not that interested in historical accuracy for their bird, or did not bother to look for the right spare parts - assuming they could find them - to have a more accurate rebuild of the airframe it was issued from. As far as accuracy is concerned, the most blatant issues are the too-narrow MLG track, easily solvable, and the propeller - but AMS did a very nice replacement. The cockpit is roughly OK, although not representing the original completely accurately (the fuselage frame was bolted to the complete wing, which ran from one tip to another). Speaking of the wing, its profile is wrong, too thin, but I guess this had to do with the design constraints of the kit. Nobody but the experts will notice anyway. There is more but, in summary, KH's T-6 is a good - and stand-alone - basis to achieve a great 1/32 T-6 with some TLC. Hubert

I had not realised there had to be a correlation between building speed and stash size ! Thank God I did not know. Plus I believe in science and its capacity to keep me healthy until I have exhausted the stash, in a few centuries. Finally, I am no mathematician; maybe the more science-orientated among you can help solve this mathematical riddle : "If I buy kits at 7 times the rate I build them, when will I have exhausted the stash ?" Looking forward to your answers Hubert

Ahh, if it has got a violet tinge in it, my most humble excuses then ! Very classy paint design, then, totally fit for a pro footballer (the soccer variety for our US friends) Hubert -

Nice work, but, IMHO, the blue outside with the black and orange trim inside reflect the taste of a rap star or of a gulf emirate heir ... Just my Hubert -
