  1. Sorry I missed this part. I left the cockpit gray, though not a particularly dark gray. I didn't see much point in making it a flashy color.
  2. In researching the Reno Air races taking place after the war, the class using Mustangs and Corsairs were won around 486 MPH. I imagine with good fuel, this plane might have competed well.
  3. Thank you, Tony! After 6000, and 12000 wet sanding, I used Meguire’s buffing compound. It’s a liquid, not a paste that I got at a local car parts store. Oh... and microfibre cloth that hasn’t been used for anything else or contaminated by dirt. Gaz
  4. School? What ju talkin' bout', Willis??
  5. Me again.... I've spent an obscene amount of time trying to make it pretty.... Bits and pieces: Three views in the sun: A few more touch ups... and then hopefully I can get it polished up satisfactorily before Hell freezes over... Gaz
  6. HI everyone! With WNW releasing a Dr.I next year, I decided it was time to build this kit. Already had a go at screwing it up... but onwards and forwards! The kit box and PE. I hate PE... but I must somehow learn to master it. So, I'll try to use all of it. First was the back wall of the cockpit. The Roden part made no effort to look like canvas: Although the removal of the plastic squares went without problem, trying to smooth out the rest caused some of the plastic to crumble. Once I got all of the associated pieces together, it looked like this. I assembled the Oberursel motor, too. Tiny little thing. I made the plug wires with EZline. Crappy pic... the next one will be better. Nothing pretty... but that's how it goes! Come fly with me!
  7. I think it's a fine pit, Harv.
  8. That looks great! I've really got to get PE fenders and other soft metal parts for tanks. Plastic just don't bend right.
  9. Thank you, Martin! Not Dragon, AFV club. Pretty nice kit. About the only negatives are rubber wheels and PE with no bend marks. I didn't find the rubber wheels too daunting, I roughed them up with a Dremel and then hit them with pigments.
  10. Rob, I really like the way you've done the uniforms. It gives a worn look that shows areas that would get the most contact with outside influences. Can't believe they made a guy pissing. Good but... At least he's not pointing off into the distance. GAz
  11. Great pics guys! Thank you for sharing! Great to see some of the guys here represented. Lots of talent there. My local show is coming soon. I've volunteered to judge this year. Hope I remember my glasses. Not submitting anything, though. My skillz need more honing. Gaz
  12. Ummm.... I was suggesting that I was sending you a picture of my privates, buddy.
  13. Those periscope guards are fab! Nice work!
  14. I paint on the verandah.... winter or summer. I use a shop compressor which my wife 'loves' to hear. My house is a haven for cat and dog hair. At least on the verandah there is no cat hair. Two weeks ago I got my first Tamiya anti-static brush. A gift from heaven! Already drastically reducing the amount of crap that ruins my surfaces. We got aircon in the house last year. Now, I don't have to sweat to enjoy my hobby in the summer.
  15. You get movies stuck in your head? How about The Sound of Music? Then you can have audio along with your video.
  16. The only bad thing is that I feel compelled to do my Roden Dr. I before the WNW kit is released. I had been holding off hoping that Pheon would get off their butts and release the 90 version set that they had promised for this year. The year being 2/3 gone, I wonder wtf is the hold-up.
  17. It's going together nicely, Mate! Your fixes to the gun carriage look clean! Gaz
  18. Irritated
