  1. I've got the rear cockpit done all done now. Onto the straps for the pilot's seat.
  2. Thanks Peter. The cockpit side panels and IP are from Eduard. Their older PE ones instead of the newer pre-coloured resin versions. Thanks for the explanation. I thought they might be for holding the pilot's arms in place but wasn't sure.
  3. Great idea Gary. Something I'll have to keep in mind if I ever do a purge. Carl
  4. Ernie, the cockpit work looks great so far. Even if you are winging it with some of the details, it's well worth the effort.
  5. Forgot to mention, if you're using Kits World decal sheet for Victorious Virgin, the cookie bomb decal is undersized. My LHS built the HK kit and found that out. It looks ok but is smaller compared to the pic of the bomb. Carl
  6. They do indeed. Not a great pic but here's the one for my HK Lanc.
  7. This will be great to watch. Carl
  8. I got the lap belts on the first seat done. There's some spaghetti straps, not really sure what to call them that go on the seat back. I've started those and the first couple belts on the second seat. Slow work that's for sure.
  9. Peter, I've found the Kits World versions to be much simpler and less detailed than the Quinta ones. Likewise, they seemed a bit thicker too. This is based on having only used one set of each brand. The Eduard ones I'm using are from 2014 so I think they even predate the Quinta stuff. They're very thin and flexible which is good in some ways. Carl
  10. Nice problem solving there Scott. Can't wait to see it finished. Carl
  11. Looks good there John. Sorry about missing your progress on this but glad you came back to it (again). Carl
  12. Glad to hear you find an approach that works with the decals. Those are still my biggest challenge. Carl
  13. Looking forward to this. The Whirlwind is such a cool looking plane. Too bad it didn't see more use. Carl
  14. I'm continuing the work on the cockpit. The tubs are more or less done. Just need to add the belts to the seats. About the belts, Eduard did them using a similar process as Quinta Studio does their cockpit sets. Except they've stuck with PE buckles. So think of an HGW belt set but even more fiddly. After an hour's work, I've got one set of shoulder belts done.
  15. Thanks Peter. It'll be nice to carry on with the RCAF theme. Have fun. Watch out for bears and we'll be here when you're back.
  16. That just about matches my setup. Hope to see you start on yours soon. Any idea on what plane you're going to do?
  17. Thanks everyone. I'm glad to finally get one of these four engine heavies finished. Yup, I've dug out my CF-104D build and hope to get this finished. A new display case is indeed in the cards. I just need to make sure I make it big enough to hold the model.
  18. Time to brush off the dust and get on with this build. Sunny agrees with me.
  19. Time to call this one done. The turrets are on, as are the props. I added a couple antennae to fuselage and that should be it. Oh yeah, decals too. All 8 of them. I'm going to have to find a place to put this beast but for now, she's going to live on the unused part of my bench. Now onto another pre-started build.
  20. The one problem I had with the Tamiya stand is it's not dynamic. It holds the model straight and level. I used one on my Spitfire VIII but I carefully bent the vertical support so that it has a slight angle to it. Not sure how week it shows in the pic but to me, it looks much better. Carl
  21. I haven't tried the Quick Wheel template before but I do use a regular circle template for painting wheels and it makes things much easier and faster. I've ordered from BNA a few times and even to Canada, they have great service. Carl
  22. Lovely Spitfire Peter. Glad to hear you got everything solved. It was well worth the effort. I've got the Whirlwind in the stash too. Need to start that one one day. Carl
  23. Looks fantastic. Thanks for posting those. Carl
  24. Getting closer to the finish line.
