1929 Fokker Super Universal
GusMac replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Nice pics Ernie. Very Art Deco! As you say I can't imagine they lasted long like that before becoming a bit more 'functional'!- 67 replies

Nice job on the camo Gaz. That could be the warm-up for a C.202 Folgore if you want to get adventurous!

RR Spey powered RAF Phantom conversion
GusMac replied to Wingco57's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Great choice of 43 squadron Cees. The Fighting Cocks were stationed at Leuchars in the 70s when I grew up just across the river and my uncle was stationed there. Saw the aircraft from 43 & 111 squadrons on a daily basis. I really hope HKM do release their promised kit as I'd love to build one but I don't have the skill set to follow your example.- 414 replies

Looking great Cees. As long as the 'ph' words aren't the 4 letter ones you should be good! I do like Tamiya's screw-in cockpits - as you say they give a nice clean fit and remove alignment issues.- 414 replies

1/32nd Heinkel 219 // Werner Streib crash At Venlo
GusMac replied to Rowdy's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Looking great Rowdy. I'd be tempted to stop there as weathering and insignia, etc will probably knock back the contrast to give a realistic end result. I often tend to go 'one too many' in these situations, so I've been trying to stop myself. -
Thanks for clarifying that James. Happy to contribute on that basis and sincere thanks for supporting the costs to date. This place is an oasis of friendship and sanity, especially at the moment!

Das Werk 1/32 Ju-126 "Elli"/ Ju-127 "Walli"
GusMac replied to JeroenPeters's topic in Aircraft Reviews
Very nice review Jeroen and it looks like a great product. Personally I don't have any enthusiasm for the 'what if' idea, but for those that do, there are certainly lots of high quality products hitting the market. -
Wow, not sure what's more impressive, the modelling or woodworking skills!

Lookin' good Phil

Ha ha, too true. My own bike has lasted for years but it does feel like it's made out of scaffolding poles!

I'll bet the Vulcan needs a bit more than $12 worth of plastic with those wings! The result will be super cool though. If you could get a Victor and Valiant as well......

Yeah, very true Ernie. Vancouver to Montreal is about ~4500 km which from Leuchars, where I used to watch the Lightnings, would put you about 500 km EAST of Moscow! Definitely not where you'd want to be back in the 70s.

Friend of mine's eldest daughter lives in Winnipeg and just bought herself a new fat bike in preparation for winter. Hadn't realised you Canuks weren't allowed to ride the trails in winter on a standard bike, hence the craze for fat bikes. The crappy wet snow we get over here would be useless for that unless you fancy breaking your neck.

Lightning wasn't renowned for range either but it was mighty impressive to watch when they pointed them straight up and opened the throttles up to the stops!
-
Not sure I'd give a lot fer yer chances trying to glide in one of those with that wing area. Suspect it would go about as well as it used to with the Starfighter.

Second hand mileage is a bit high as well....

Have to agree with Phil. Dunkirk was just another example of Nolan trying to prove how smart he is and damn whether it's a coherent story. As for Tenet... pure garbage. Simple fundamental of physics, the Second Law of Thermodynamics is irrefutable. No matter how smart he thinks it might make his story, entropy cannot run backwards! Junk!
