Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 20, 2021 Administrators Posted February 20, 2021 Cees... has done it again. Screw up all my plans and distract me with a new months long project. Operation Bodenplatte. January 1, 1945. Hans-Jürgen Kilian of 3/JG1 crashed near the small village Vreeland (very close to my house). Information on Kilian and his plane are scarce but slowly I’m getting an idea of hoe his yellow 6 fw190a8 plane looked. I have a shitload of AM ready for this build. Cees gave me a piece of the aileron. Yes! Here we go! 15
Administrators James H Posted February 20, 2021 Administrators Posted February 20, 2021 I'll put the He 162 back in the attic then 6 1
GusMac Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Looking forward to see what you do with this. Rowdy has set the bar pretty high for 190 builds at the moment.... 9 1
Rowdy Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Ok.... the heat is on!! Yoking Jeroen, looking forward to your build!! I hope we can expect some early A versions in the future as well, so we can make some great stuff of which flew in Holland! 9

antonio argudo Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 cool project mate, what is the guess on the color for this one? 74/75/76 with red band like this one 7
BlrwestSiR Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Nothing like a good distraction. Can't wait to see this. Confession time. I've yet to build a 190 in any scale. 5 1

Indeed. My guess is that the scheme is exactly like this one. No checkered or striped nose. Red band. Yellow 6. Perhaps with black outline. And maybe a white twirl on the spinner. 7
piet Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Great subject, I always like a good wrecked/damaged plane. You have these books ? if not i can post the colour profiles for the late 1944 FW190's from Volume three. 7

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 21, 2021 Author Administrators Posted February 21, 2021 The gap behind the rear deck is on my brassin set as well. Need to fix that. 5
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 21, 2021 Author Administrators Posted February 21, 2021 Just ordered the HGW postive rivets, canopy masks and seatbelts. Lord have mercy... 6
One-Oh-Four Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Ah! Great subject idea, Jeroen! As I said in the IPMS SIG Airwar '39-'45 WhatsApp-chat; I have the Revell 1/32 Fw 190A-8/R-2 Sturmbock next in line for the workbench. Have to finish Revell's 1/48 Ju 188A-2 for the IPMS magazine first, though... So I've got my beer & chips (crisps for those across the moat) and let you take point! 7

Remember reading somewhere (years and years ago) that at one point they were discontinued... 5
One-Oh-Four Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 A quick look suggests that the aircraft could either carry the LVB or not at this stage of the war... In any case they had the JG 1 emblem on the cowling Fw 190 A-8 W.Nr. 171193 Grüne 5, Stab I JG 1, Herzogenaurach, May 1945 5 1
AlanG Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 You probably do know already but according to Fw190 Vol.3 (Smith & Creek) the aircraft Fw190 A8 (Yellow 6+) W.Nr. 738159 4
One-Oh-Four Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) From the WO2VPR site: I./JG 1 suffered its first casualty ten kilometres west of Hilversum. Hit by FLAK the Fw 190 of Feldwebel Heinz-Jurgen Kilian, a pilot of 3./JG 1, crashed near Vreeland. Kilian bailed out but his parachute did not open in time. Passing Scheveningen the next turning point at the Dutch coast disaster struck again. German Naval coastal batteries opened fire and the next victim came down. UFFz. Egon Comtessé white-3 crashed into the sea, his body washed ashore two months later. Obrst. Herbert Ihlefeld´s Fw 190 was also hit but he succeeded into belly landing near Rotterdam. Finally Uffz´s Heinz Bohmers Fw. 190 was hit. The exact crash site of his plane is not known but his body was found in July 1945 in a marshy area near Strijen. I./JG1. passed Schouwen island when the guiding Ju-88 returned to base and Hauptman Georg Hackbarth took over and guide the gruppe, or what was left of it, to the next turning point near Bruges. This being one of them. 5
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 23, 2021 Author Administrators Posted February 23, 2021 Did a click & collect today at the aviation megastore i live 20min away from. Went perfect! Now have all the HGW sets as well. First parts on the Brassin pit. Excellent detail. I might add a Yahu panel. Not sure yet. 14
One-Oh-Four Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 (edited) How much does this set differ from the kit cockpit? As far as I remember that isn't too bad? Maybe the seat is a bit clunky? Do you have some pics to compare? I was planning on using the kit cockpit but if the Brassin pit is a hands-down winner and much better overall, I might reconsider... Edited February 24, 2021 by One-Oh-Four Forgot to write half the question... D'óh! 3
